Why can't I upload videos and use emojis on Instagram?

I have a Blackberry Passport and I have downloaded Instagram through SNAP. I've had it for at least a year. My first problem is that I can no longer post emojis, I used to copy them from websites like getemoji and they would appear as they should but now they appear as a Chinese character.
Secondly I can't post videos, it takes forever to try to upload it is as constantly crashes and when I do get to the final stage it just says "Video wasn't posted"

Any solutions?
