Bell, Canada's premier rip off artists want 299 and a two year contract. Well I got a couple of words for you and it starts with F. Blackberry, you had better go out and fix this problem PDQ.
Ya considering it's only $200 at Telus lol. **** bell. And **** Rogers too for being completely non existent right now.

Why is Best Buy and Future Shop sites listing it as $999.99???!!!

And Telus and Bell price list it as $750 and $749 off contract???

The pricing is all over the board!
Retailers can charge what they like for it, that includes carriers. No one can force them to sell it for $699. Having said that, I would imagine the $999 price at Best Buy and Future Shop is a caretaker price put in to fill in holes until a firm retail price has been established.

Basically. Considering it was so unorganized and nobody knew if today was even an official launch, it was a terrible presentation on Chen's part, just so unpolished and amateur. The other guy did a good jump. Overall just a very confusing launch with all these different prices and blend being able to download but doesn't work, not working on mac, or even old BlackBerry devices for now. So pointless because nobody owns a passport yet. Just waaay too unorganized

You can when Chen set the Canadian price at 699 "for no reason" he "doesn't know why that is the cost is canada"
The conversion should make the phone absolutely no more than 675.. yet BlackBerry is selling the phone direct @ 699

You wonder why BlackBerry never snowballs and never gains people's attention. Do you think anybody but Crackberry readers knew this launch or even this phone was coming today? Definitely now. But the iPhone 6 had lineups out the door. Drives me insane.

It's not just $35. To date, Shop BlackBerry has been selling devices at par between the US and Canadian sites so the difference really is $100. Even when the US had a sale for $100 off per device the Canadian site issued a coupon code for the equivalent discount, again bringing the devices to par. You can't really blame people for feeling a bit fleeced under the circumstances especially with all the hype around the $599 price point but Chen's cavalier attitude about the situation certainly didn't help one little bit.

I will wait until the Telus exclusivity is up and then make up my mind. If they are honouring Telus for their support, I can understand.

But if I don't see a $100 Cdn. discount on October 2, I will wait until the lack of sales drives the price down before I purchase it.

Even better (actually worse)...if I go through the upgrade process on bell.ca they want me to pay $160 to get out of my contract early which is fine but they want $699 on a 2 year contract...gtfoh...I assume it is because I have a grandfathered unlimited data for $30 plan...but why would I pay you $699 + $160 when I can just buy it direct from Blackberry for $699 (instead of the $749 that Bell wants)...

It should also be $599 in Canada especially after the launch was so focused on Canadiana

This does not matter. I live in a border town so I have always frequently gone to the U.S. Throughout my lifetime and I can tell you right now that everything is pretty much priced equally. The power of the dollar has no effect on this 699 vs 599 pricepoint. That is way too big a difference. If they wanted to make it exact and price it at 639 canadian then do that. But that's not what their intentions were with a 699 price point. They simply slapped on another hundred bucks

    Posted via CB10 for Q10
Partially agree - should not be that big of a price difference. However as much as I travel between Canada and the U.S. - specifically to BC I can tell you that almost everything you buy in the Lower Mainland is a lot higher than if you cross the boarded into North Washington State... for example gasoline is roughly 50 cents a liter more in BC - which translates to at least 1/3 more per gallon than in WA,

Not if you live in ontario with 13% HST on top. The phone comes out to $805 CAD vs less than $700 CAD from the US site.

699 is in Canadian dollars, no? That'd make 599USD 665CAD, so it is a 35 dollar difference. And while it is kinda confusing and disappointing, saying "we all aren't loaded" for 35 bucks makes me think you shouldn't even be buying an expensive piece of technology in first place.

I didn't see free shipping on ShopBlackBerry.com... it was $20.

All inclusive, I was seeing 804 Canadian.

With exchange, free shipping and delivery to US address, the cost all in in CDN dollars to a US address is $704 CDN.

    So it's not just $35 difference. It's $100.

But I want it now. I want it unlocked (because unlocking from a CDN carrier will be $20). So the money you might save on shipping by purchasing from a CDN carrier store will be incurred on an unlocking charge.

Shop BlackBerry has been selling at par for the last 18 months, everything was the same price from US to Canadian sites. For instance on the US site the Z30 is $499 USD, on the Canadian site it's $499 CAD, etc, etc, etc. As I mentioned earlier when one site had a sale, the other would match it by issuing coupons. That makes the difference a very real $100.

More like at least $50, and you have to be with the carrier no less than 3 months. Usually new phones are around $75 to unlock by the carrier after the 3 months mandatory service period.

this is all part of the strategy to get Canadians to back the company, charge an extra 100$.
Precisely. Watch it work so well! Europeans too...they will be totally on board with paying $850 USD equivalent for a $600 USD device. What's that I hear? *tumbleweed rolls by*

Not that easy. First of all you need a US postal address. This is pretty easy to arrange, there are various services you can use, but not everyone in Canada lives close enough to the border to make this worth while. Secondly, you need a credit card with a US billing address. How many people have one of those in Canada?
