Interested to know who here uses their active frames on their Passport? Is anyone else here like me and always closes their apps once their done using it?

    What apps do you run?
    How many do you run?

Also interested to know if Active Frames cause any impact on battery life.

I for one have never used active frames since I got my Passport. First BlackBerry since the Bold 9900.

I don't think that those active frames use that much of battery life.

However I've never used them, because they are not like real widgets, which is kind of sad. Would love to see widgets on my Blackberry screen.

I just usually have 2 open ie bbm and beweather which cycles through my list of places weatherwise.

I haven't noticed any battery drain having 2 open all the time. Battery on my Passport is still immense.

Usually the Browser is open as well, but because of bad memory management it often closes apps when I run the Browser/Camera for example.

Most of those run headless anyway, and the Active Frame does not take up any/much extra juice (it only ever updates if the screen is On).
I run so many apps and I easily reach one full day, even when streaming hours of music.

The OS was designed such that you're supposed to keep active frames. Stop closing them! I always have four there all day every day (remember, calendar, BBM for Channels access, and Telegram). Then, I'll often add others like CBC news and CB10.

For the love of all that's holy, stop closing your active frames. This isn't an iPhone! You don't need to be "closing" the multitasking screen all the time.

Hell... even on an iPhone you're not supposed to do that.

Just for you, tomorrow I'll run my most used apps on active frame and see how I get on. Can't really hate on something I've never really gave a chance. You're right about the iPhone thing, that's one of the main reasons I always close my apps after use.

I usually have Calendar and Remember opened all the time. BBM, Twitter and Browser are two additional candidates which stay opened very often.

    Home Screen Plus.

It's a very good app, it emulates widgets and a status bar by "drawing" information on top of your background. It updates frequently in the background so the weather info stays up to date.

I always use active frames, usually 4-6, those I am using often. I am closing them only when I will not use them in the next hours.
Never noticed a battery drain, apart of the browser when in the tabs are some pages that refresh by themselves.
For me is an awesome feature and speed up a lot my productivity.

Never noticed battery drain because of active frames.

However, with this. 1154 leak, it seems the flickering is more when I have active frames open, so I have started closing them more often.

Eagerly waiting for the next leak for the Passport...
