Since it's launch on September 2014, I have purchased 3 Black OG Passports, 2 White OG Passports on December and a Silver Edition that arrived 2 days ago. Neither myself, nor the people I bought the phone for, have never had an issue with the devices. No screen lifting, no double typing. Some of the phones have cases, some of them don't.

By the way, if you are on the fence on purchasing the Silver Edition, you should give it a try, the keyboard is really improved and it looks gorgeous.

I stuffed my Passport in my back pocket and sat on it, and then got it wet. Now I'm having "screen lift" and "double type". I didn't bother getting insurance so when I phoned my carrier they said it was obviously damage due to misuse and not covered under warranty. I'm so angry I could almost start a million threads moaning about BlackBerry's poor customer service and build quality. That'll teach them! They're totally out of order in not believing me when I tried to pass the damage off as normal wear and tear, they should totally believe everything I say without question and give me an unlimited number of Passports to mistreat. I'm sure Apple would.

I just got my Passport and it's doing alright. I have noticed some screen lift (but ever so slightly) and twisted my device's metal frame it it kinda fixed the issue. Is anyone NOT having a problem with their device?

    Posted via CB10
I'm on my second Passport as I dropped my first one. 8 months with the old one and I had no issues. No double typing or lift or twist. My new one is only 1.5 months old so too early to tell, but no issues so far. Fingers crossed.

I purchased my Passport off ebay.ca last week, and so far no problems..... well the device was manufactured 11/11/14. I do not know if it had ever been owned, but the protective covers were on the screen, back, and camera. Only the sd/sim cover protector was gone. At any rate, it device is working just fine..... and I love it!

Nobody if they examine it properly as I believe all have the screen lift issue.

For those in doubt, look at the right side of the screen where the edge meets the fret. Half will be slightly higher than the other side.

Look at the top right corner. 100% will notice that the right top corner is slightly higher than the left ( one needs to hold the phone at eye level, with the phone horizontal. The key marker is the plastic edge that site on top if the I-beam. This should be about 1mm or so higher than the glass. If you look, you will find that your phone's screen is higher on the right than on the left.

Also, charge the phone or get it to something that makes it generate heat and you will discover that the screen becomes soft and moveable. Once it's warm, press down on the right top or on the left and you will see the screen is effectively floating. Clip on a clothes peg ro the top right during a full charge or anything that makes it hot, leave to cool, remove the peg. Screen will have become recessed.

I'm sitting here with another seven empty boxes of Passports. I had to mess about with all of them to get the screen to eventuality sit flat and 1mm below the too edge.

    Terrible quality, terrible management.

Can't wait for next iphone which when released will have a filing system and the ability to attach multiple documents to emails.

Once this is released, there will be nobody who will need BlackBerry.

    Again, my prediction is this:

    1) by last Q 2106 BlackBerry shares will be 2-3 USD.
    2) BlackBerry will have released their last handset ever - the slider that nobody will buy. ( it will sell under half a million worldwide during its entire life)
    3) Chen will have made millions.
    4) 2017 BlackBerry will no longer exist as a mobile phone provider.

Just my opinion. Don't want it to happen, but as a CEO myself, I can't understand how a company supposedly struggling for survival could ignore the massive design fault of their flagship model.

Business is pretty simple. Listen to your customers and watch your opposition.

    Cheers,

    Chris.

You must be joking! I have just bought a Mac for the first time in 30 years of using a computer ( last 24 years running Linux) The first thing I did was to install Linux, openOffice and x11 on it because it felt less of a laptop than even my passport.

It's horrible to navigate the file manager on a Mac. The default calculator app is made for dummies who have never done engineering math.
I searched the Apple app library for the first time and could not find anything serious that an EE engineer like me would find useful.
Apple is spying on it even though I did not create an apple ID...

I hope someone figures out the Linux trackpad driver for this Macbook 12 inch ASAP so that I can really stop using MacOS. It's a shame!

What it does have is lightweight, great screen and great looks. But the OS and app selection (yes app selection!) and battery life are a big disappointment.

I've had no issues with my device had it since December... my first passport however had 3G connectivity issues... which on the 3 UK network is really hard to use considering their 4G is very spotty and they don't even have a 2G network lol
