The Passport is the most ergonomically incorrect device BlackBerry has ever produced.
I'm glad someome else says so. It really is an awful design, forced to a passport spec with a ridiculous 3-row keyboard and glued together manufacture.

Where did Blackberry go? The company that produced the Bold 9900 and Q10. Are they dead?

Lose the PKB and make it all touch with an aspect ratio that's practical in the real world.

Square screens are useless for almost everything in a wide screen world.

Cool, way to bring in everything encompassing Apple and it's marketing prowess into a thread focused heavily on design of a new handset. Your last line was the only thing relevant.

There was some tech like that demod a few years ago, where part of the touch screen turns into tactile keys and then fades back to all touch.
My Lenovo Carbon X1 laptop has a keyboard like that. All of the function keys are a "virtual" keyboard. It changes with the application use (four different) keyboards. Pretty cool once you get use to it.

I have to agree with making it more Q type.

I originally brought my Z10 and was waiting for the Q30 to come along. The decision was made to go with the "Passport" design.

But for me the "Classic" form factor with a slightly wider profile and 4.5 inch display would be the ticket.

And the AT&T Passport version is almost there.

They need to add an active stylus/digitzer layer to the display and the PP would be my dream phone

I posted elsewhere, I would like to see:

    - 4:3 ratio (make it taller, 1920x1440)
    - Dual SIM option
    - better camera

I miss the amazing speaker on the Z30 (better bass)
...and louder. Z30 speakers (other than PlayBook's) are for my money the best of the best.

I think an all-touch version of the Passport with the current dimensions (just taller screen in place of the keyboard keeping the same 453PPI) would be a great bridge between traditional phones and the benefits of the wider screen on the Passport.

Key combo to activate shift key and have symbols on keyboard. Then give me customize backlight leds and make internals faster / stronger. I live in a poor reception area I would love and would pay extra for a beefy internal antenna and a huge battery. That's just me. The rest, meh, keep the black on steel look, little thinner for pocket removal.

    Yes!!

Nokia had incredible design and use of LED technology especially with the N86 is Menu button was micro perforated with holes that you could NOT feel to the touch but LED's shown brightly through them for alerts and yet pulsed softly with hint queues and reminders; never had colours though - BlackBerry could capitalise on this.

Classics' BlackBerry Symbol button could incorporate this and It becomes the notification LED.

The Passport 2 - Mission Impossible can have LED keys specifically to shine for symbols alternatively with a down swipe gesture just like Z30/10/z3/Leap, not just for back light. Also, have ability for various languages using this. One set of keys in production, yet with a matrix perforated design, invisible to touch and the naked eye using LED back light for the language chosen, very low intensity in bright light to save energy maybe something new like phosphors worked when ignited and retained illumination for long moderate periods of time??

I agree same battery size and capacity yet with 18nm chip set and cpu combined or smaller saves on power consumption increases battery life. Use alternative power for your facilities take advantage of HUGE government grants ans spend less for operational expenses means more money in the long term!! Look for innovations in this space by incubators, fund them but use the technology as their test and refinement bed for free global advertisement!!!

4-row keyboard. Or an extra vertical row with modifier keys.

    Slightly smaller size.

Properly strong steel frame to avoid torsion.

These adjustments would make for a winning device. The modifier keys and the cross-bracing are the most important adjustments to be made.

Agreed. An extra vertical row would be really nice. The Shift key is one of the keys that needs to be on the physical keyboard, not up there. Currently, it breaks the flow to use it as a virtual key.

Give the overall shape a diet, my biggest gripe is I had difficulty comfortably placing phone
in my front pocket and no I don't wear skinny jeans. More app friendliness would be appreciated,
ie: my bank no longer provides an app for BBP.
    Get the android alternative! Simple!!
