I've looked everywhere online, most places are sold out. My carrier won't be carrying from what I can see, does anybody know where I can get it online?

How difficult is it to buy it from Telus unlocked? Do you have to negotiate a little or do they let everyone buy it along with an unlock code?

I am not a Telus client and I don't intend to be one.

Buy it from telus, get a prepaid $35 telus card, use the card to pay telus for unlocking it. You will be out of the store in 20 minutes with your unlocked Passport!

What this user said, as long as you purchase the phone outright Telus is legally required to unlock it for you then and there. They have the right to charge whatever they want for the service (which is $35) had I not been one of the lucky ones to receive mine from shop BlackBerry I would have gone the Telus route.

I went into a Telus store on Friday and was told I couldn't buy the Passport outright. Was told they will only do so after selling the phone for 3 months. Anybody else here that?

At Telus I was told there were a limited number that could be sold outright (I was told that even after I said I was with Telus). But then they sold it to me without much discussion, so who knows what the story really is.

Seems not to be consistent between stores.

Yes, sometimes they don't like to sell phones outright because they prefer people on telus buy it and use it on Telus.
But it all depends on who you ask, some reps just agree and sell without issue.

Buying on Telus and Unlocking is the easiest route until there is stock at shop blackberry

If you can't find any Telus stores with Stock then try redflagdeals for sale section or craigslist,

But I believe Telus stores will get more stock this week for sure.

It has to do with the telus store being corporate owned or not is my guess

    Doesn't sound right to me.

The rep probably doesn't know the details. From my experience, the carrier will sell you the device and be obligated (by law) to unlock it for you (at a price).

Also,... why would they reject business?

    EDIT: attaching the quote

This is not correct. They are only not allowing corporate stores to sell outright until October 1st. After that every store can sell outright. In the meantime, you can order from Telus direct online and pay outright. Shipping is 3-5 business days and it's free. They also have the hard shell case that you can buy with it online. All you need to do to get it unlocked is buy a Telus SIM and $35 of prepaid credit, and then contact their live chat online or phone the customer service team to unlock the phone using the credit. Basically, you pay a $45 premium ($10 SIM and $35 credit) but you get the device right away.

    Telus has no carrier branding.

I went into the local Telus store at metropolis in Burnaby BC in Vancouver. The month to month pricing is 700$ but the sales person I spoke with said they are not allowed to sell them outright without activation of a new line or hup.

Yes despite the incorrect comments listed here. You cannot be buy outright from Telus. Has to be a new activation or re-hup. Yes January 1st you can buy outright.

This makes more sense. But proof would be to have a member order on site. Would anyone like to come in?

Whether or not they sell outright is irrelevant to the prepaid SIM business. All Telus devices are locked. You have to unlock them, and currently the only unlock method is direct from Telus, for which you have to pay them. So, unless they are unlocking at no charge you still have to pay the $35 at minimum.
