How about amazon? I'm getting the feeling the email bb sent out has nothing to do with amazon back orders..if that's true then just wow.

From what I gather..a new batch of passports will "start" to be shipped out on the 29th of October.

Now since there are so many back orders, I have a feeling that the new shipment will be used to fulfil all back orders.

So i highly doubt the BlackBerry Passport will show up on ShopBlackBerry as "in stock" on the 29th.

But for amazon and other places..they might have shipments going to them respectively soon.

I wonder how many people will cancel their orders and buy a different device. October 29th is a long wait!

Passport is worth the wait... really unique and premium experience.

I rarely use my Iphone 5 or Z30 now... they seem "outdated" by comparison...

Yes Oct 29th for backorder and hopefully they can start shipping to stores soon too. It's insane they are getting the meat of media coverage now, but nobody can actually even see one at a store. Well, at least in the U.S. Hopefully this can be kinda the "pre-release" and Dec-Jan things are smoother.

I ordered 9 days ago and am hoping for that Oct29 shipment they emailed me about.

It will never be in stock, thanks to just in time production and outrageous demand

Just wondering if someone at BlackBerry miscalculated the demand... or if this was the plan in order to keep the new device on demand on a continuous basis.

By the way, what is your guess on how many BlackBerry Passport units that can be manufactured on daily basis? Assuming FoxCom is manufacturing them?

John Chen and his team have alot to answer for regarding the supply issue here.

It's one thing to be conservative and do a 'small order to test the waters', but the forecasting and production has been really off in this instance.

+ Didn't John say it would be about a week for new stock?. I also doubt the 15th of October release date in Australia will be met given the shortage of stock in key markets already.

This is really is the only thing I can criticize John for though since his been at BlackBerry. I know he said under supply is better then oversupply, but the production was seemingly rushed and far short of demand and has proven slow to restock. All critical business mistakes that BlackBerry cannot afford when there are thousands of people throwing there $599.00 or so at them.

They were not looking for a sold out situation. But they didn't want to do a write off like they did with the previous devices so they underestimated

Do you remind the Z10 story?

They do not want to have a ton of devices and losses; and you can understand that. BB's not Apple.

They thought PP would interest some of the "prosumers"; it seems that a lot of non "prosumers" bought one.

Passport is so different; how can they predict that success?

I think they didn't realize how well it would have been received in the market. That a building hype is no different from what apple has done in the past.
