Buy it unlocked from Shop Blackberry. I won't buy a phone on contract ever again.

Buying it unlocked won't help if it has NO CDMA reception!

I've never seen a Verizon phone able to be forced to roam on edge, but they would probably do what sprint does and cut you off after a few months of abnormally high roaming usage.

It won't work and this has already been posted, do a search, there is a thread with pages of information on why not...

Verizon will not allow phones that haven't been certified by them on their network, even it sees their network (The passport does pick up their LTE band 13) but again, VZW doesn't allow non certified phones so they will not activate it.

Also, in case you are thinking about asking about inserting an already active SIM into it, they won't work either (Also covered in said thread that I mentioned above, do a search for it).

The best thing we can do for now is hope that they strike up some sort of deal and BB releases a CDMA version, OR VZ surprises us with enabling VoLTE to it's full capacity and certifies the PP...
