Started out with Kyocera K312 then wanted to have grouped conversations so got the Kyocera contact(I think), but it turns out the model built for VirginMobile didn't have grouped conversation support(was o disappointed). Did the research and up came blackberry. Got myself a Blackberry Curve 8530(so awesome) and that is when the blackberry love strated. Started my first real job and got good discount for Microsoft phones, so ended up with HTC Radar 4g. Really didn't like how it handled multitasking(plus I still loved my curve experience). Got the BlackBerry Z10 as soon as I could, followed by the Q10, because I missed the keyboard(really didn't like the calendar view on Q10). Then the passport was announced and I've never been happier(except for battery life issues and 10.3.1 calendar but that's for another thread).

Anyone here have a Nextel? I used a LOT of those when they were hot. I still love them to this day but of course they don't exist now. I even had a Blackberry Nextel Phone. Wow. That's like Peanut butter and chocolate.

I had a couple of Nokia phones before going BlackBerry. I can't remember the models though so I'll start with my first BlackBerry.

Seriously, from 1995 to getting the Passport for Christmas 2014, I've owned far too many smartphones to remember them all.

But, last\current device prior to my BlackBerry Passport is my iPhone 6 Plus...

Everything under the sun, except iPhone and Windows Phone. That includes relative unknowns, like FirefoxOS and Jolla.

I would love to try iPhone, but can't get over how they almost let OpenBSD die when the project was facing financial hardships, even though they lift HUGE portions of its code for their operating systems, such as the firewall. Richest company in history and all.
At least Google manned up and donated >10k$ since they use libc directly from OpenBSD.

Windows Phone is a no-no for me; I'm a former dev turned sysadmin who sees more harm done by Microsoft in the industry than anybody else. Back in the day, I was a Nokia fan, and promptly discarded my Nokias once the anouncement was made. I also ended a lifetime of buying Ford vehicles to avoid that mess of a Windows kernel and EULAs in my car.

Jolla feels more like a project in UI design than a finished product. They need to drop the yandex spyware crap from their Android runtime, and get a phone that supports US 4G freqs.

Out of them all, I like BB10 the best. And of all the BB10 devices, I like the Passport the most.

IF Blackberry ended their consumer phone business, I would buy another Passport, put it in the closet plugged in to charge, with all the radios turned off and the screen at the dimmest level. That way the battery will remain usable and in 2-3 years I will have a fresh replacement for this Passport to hold me over a few more years. I wish I had done that with the Nokia E7 many years ago, to avoid the headache of 15+ smartphones on my journey to BB10.

Oh, and I've never used a classic (pre BB10) BlackBerry product until this year. Can't say I was missing out on much.
