I don't even recall my earliest devices. It went something like:
    Motorola model from 2000 (Verizon)
Motorola flip phone 2004 (T Mobile because Verizon didnt serve the area I had to travel to)
Nokia POS 2005 (because I next found myself in another service area, this time with Cingular)
Motorola ROKR (bought at cost because it was discontinued and the Nokia had fallen apart) 2005
    Blackberry Curve on Sprint 2009
    Blackberry 9670
Q10 while waiting on Sprint's so-called promise to carry a flagship (presumably the Z30)
Passport, unlocked, went to AT&T after getting sick of being jerked around by Sprint

Ahhh....Yes....the good 'ol Qualcomm Q! Hence, my username and avatar. That was my first digital phone after leaving analog. Damn did it ever leave a mark on me as that has been my username on howardforums, crackberry and a host of other tech websites since the late nineties.

Back then, it was either join the hordes of TDMA devices or jump on board with this this new Tech developed by Qualcomm (Code Division Multiple Access - CDMA) ...well it's been Qualcomm ever since which is in pretty much in every phone/smartphone out there.

Man...the battles of yesteryear between Qualcomm vs. Nokia, Ericsson and Motorola...felt it wasn't the same anymore in terms of Qualcomm made phones when they sold their mobile phone division to Kyocera.

Now with Qualcomm Snapdragons in all the BlackBerry 10 devices leading up to my Passport...I guess Qualcomm prevailed.

Old Nokias, like the 6310 etc.
    iPhone
    HP Palm Pre 3
    iPhone 4, 4s, 5s
    Blackberry Z10
    Nokia N9
    Jolla
    Nokia Lumia 930
    Nokia Lumia 1520
    iPhone 6
    Blackberry Passport

Overall theme: since Nokia N9 I fell in love with swipe as the main gesture for operating your phone. N9 also had a highly configurable always on display (using AMOLED screen) which Windows Phone is picking up in most of their models. Miss that on the PP. But there is nothing like the Hub on any of the other phones and that's why I am sticking with the PP until something better comes along. Love the device form factor and OS.

    I'll skip the early cell phones and start with my blackberries (which I have had most flagship releases) - 957, 7200,8310, 8800, 8910, 9000, 9700, 9900, Z10, Z30, Passport. Plus briefly used 7100R, 8100, 9800, 9860 and Q10.

My favourities were 957 (incredible new technology), 7280 (combo PDA and Phone), 9700 (size and features), 9860 (best phone design ever) Z30 (all touch that I could use) and now Passport (innovative form factor).

To the haters, critics, and the folks who just can't fathom the size, keyboard design, etc., use it! I took a leap of faith and holy crawdads... what an awesome device. The form factor is daring genius.

    - I completely forgot about this phone testing Rogers' GPRS network for free
    Nokia 8310
    Nokia 7610
    Nokia NGage QD
    Nokia 6620
    Since I couldn't find the 7700,
    Nokia N70 \
    - got rid of this fast; import profit due to MMC vs SD battle. Some of us lived through the BetaMax/VHS battle ahem pron.
    BlackBerry 7290
    - T-Mobile USA while working/training first tech job Tier 2 support.
    BlackBerry 8700r
    - same job, year 2.

    BlackBerry Pearl 8100
    - cause I wanted that 7100v so badly! 1st experience with BES (support and Administration at Helpdesk Lvl, Documentation for 4 clients of IBM)!!

Although I noticed the BlackBerry fighters Nokia E61 & Nokia E62 it wasn't until the Bold 9000 announced that I didn't see much improvement in features and bounced for a short while, the power of Symbian was much greater and could do so much more at that time. How things of changed.

    Nokia E71 x2
    - I LOVED this phone! Although screensize and resolution lost out ... it was simply talk time that killed the Bold 9000 (Up to 10 h 30 min (2G) / 4 h 30 min (3G) vs Up to 5 h). Not to mention, Email Layout, HTML Email support killed BB, and notifications where sweet. This was hurting BB sales in the UK and it was high time for BB to finally shape up. I felt VERY ashamed being a consumer supporting the competition then walking into my first major I.T. role carrying this and wooing colleagues ... then the realization came consumer vs corporate REALLY is different keeping up with emails, bbm, etc back in 2010-11.

    BlackBerry Bold 9700
    BlackBerry Bold 9780
Apple iPhone 3GS, 4S, 5 (I blame one wallet/cash consuming mind sucking game! BlackBerry needed this challenge to be honest)
    BlackBerry 8320
    - I know right? lol
    BlackBerry Torch 9800
    BlackBerry PlayBook 32GB x 3.
    BlackBerry 9900
    - The return of the King!
    BlackBerry Z10 x 5
    - Loved it I sung it's praises to girlfriends (no ex's but they still use them) and family.
    BlackBerry Z30
    BlackBerry Q10
    - 1 full week was fun but couldn't get into the keyboard again for some reason.
    BlackBerry Z30
    - Current LOVE IT

    Soon BlackBerry Passport!

I still and to this VERY day pray and hope BlackBerry will surprise us beyond this Torch slider crap everyone is salivating over. Why?

    I give to you ... Nokia's N97 & the refined Nokia E7

    The reason?
The full touch screen when you need one handed operation like the Z30 (power and prowess) yes turn the device and side-wide screen for productivity in an instant pinch like the Passport when you can quickly swivel slide out the screen and get a full qwerty keyboard with wide keys and spacing. Sure it would be a BlackBerry through and through but the fundamentals make this design thesis an eventual evolution for both the Z30 and the Passport.

Ex-Wife and Former Girlfriends had IPhones I bought for them. To me they were great multimedia devices, but lacked when it came to true communication devices.

After having the Passport, I miss the Z30. But the Z30 needs a quad processor and more RAM in the next iteration. Otherwise I am good with the Passport for a long time.
