LTE Z3 should SELL LIKE MAD!
10 Million units a year.
Passport
5 Millino units a year.
Classic
tough call... if the 70 Million bb7 users convert this number could be huge.
But lets put the classic down at 6 Million a year.

If their base target is 12 million devices a year for that part of the company to be profitable then I would not be surprised if their initial targets were not something like this:
Z3/Z3LTE - 6 million
Classic - 5 million
Passport - 1 million
The guys in this thread thinking that BlackBerry should not worry about profit but market share are dreaming in technicolor.
JC has made it clear if it is not profitable then it's gone. He doesn't want to get rid of the hardware so he has set it up to be profitable at 10 million units.
You can bet it will not be priced to sell to gain market share. Same reason Z3 is not going to be marked down any time soon. It will be priced to make a decent profit. They are in a bind. Lower numbers mean higher cost. But if they order more to lower the cost and they don't sell then we are back to the fire sale. So he is going to order enough so that there will be no fire sale and he can make a profit.
The days of fire sale are over.
I also think that if he has publicly announced 10 million he thinks he can probably sell between 10 and 15 million a year.
