Ok, you win this contest! (that is seriously old hardware, and I thought my 2009 macbook was old)

I also use a Surface Pro 3 and love it. The keyboard still isn't stiff like an actual laptop but it is 100% better than the version 1&2. I can easily use it on my lap and on the go. The any angle kick stand is a huge improvement. When in my office I have the Surface dock that adds two more monitors external hard drive speakers and keyboard. Really is a versatile machine.

Love my Surface Pro 3.... Get the I5 version....Not enough horsepower with the I3....... but the MacBook Air or Pro is still the best Laptop by a mile!!!!

My wife uses a Carbon withe her Passport and she loves both. I had to remove ALOT of bloatware from the Lenovo though. Man it has a ton of crap in it!
That's a given. Most workstations and laptops come with bloatware.

Excellent. As I type on a 2014 model, I really mean excellent. This thing is a real step backwards from classic ThinkPad keyboards.

Really? Wow, how did you manage to create a full function of excel worksheet on passport? Or merging data from word, excel to powerpoint using passport?

Yes. It is shameful that BlackBerry software is not available to turn the passport into a true mobile platform.
Otherwise, it is much better than a laptop on the road.
The only thing missing is full-fledged text and presentation editor.
I rarely read or edit email on my laptop or workstation. Passport is much better for that and this is why I don't get Blend, apart for the fact that it does not work in Linux.

Hmm, I had a 2007. One of my favorite Macs. Awesome keyboard. Matte screen. Big trackpad button. I loved that model (more than later ones).

Would Office 365 allow one to do any of those tasks?

I carry a laptop b/c creating Word and WordPerfect (which is superior for my work) documents much easier on a laptop than on a phone. Furthermore, Docs2Go won't even open footnotes in Word documents--which makes that app useless for my work.
office 365 on phone ? I don't know since for me, laptop still can't be replaced with any smartphone (yet). I still need to laptop for word and excel processing. Macbook air is my choice, comparing to some ultrabook (which is not cheaper than macbook air)

If you download the latest APK for Office Mobile, it runs beautifully on BB10, though I'm pretty sure it requires Office 365.

But that combination absolutely makes Passport the "true mobile platform" you seem to think it isn't.

Toshiba Porteg z20t it's pricey, but it's a beast of a machine, 17 hours of battery, detachable tablet with a built in stylus slot, matte screen and THE PORTS! No adapters needed thank you, not even for VGA. And to top it all of it even looks like the Passport

I have the Z10t (last generation) with i7 Haswell and 8GB RAM I was able to score for $650. I specifically got that because it had a Haswell i7 and the Intel 7260 WiFi/BT card, and that combination works flawlessly with native Android (Android-x86). So I have one very powerful tablet that dual boots Windows and Android. I don't see the point in having 50 different devices!

With that said, the Z10t is definitely far inferior in build quality to the Surface Pro lineup and I would never have spent the $1700 price Toshiba wanted when it was new. The keyboard dock kinda sucks too, and the fan on the thing can be annoyingly loud sometimes, sounds like the ***** is going to blast off into space. But i mostly use it for taking notes at school and the matte covering on the screen paired with felt wacom nibs is the closest paper-like experience I've had on a tablet.

The Z20t looks nice, how's the build quality? Which model do you have?

The build is good, haven't handled to SP3 or the Z10t so I couldn't compare. Funny enough I'm not 100% sure (now I'm gonna have to check tomorrow) it was my brothers PC and he gave it to me when he moved out (he's using a mac now simply due to all the video editing he does)

If it is an android or cloud service, I pass.
I have enough memory on my phone not to have to let Google or Microsoft know every word I type in a document!
I do not have to do that on my Linux laptop!
