Ok there are a few of us who choose to use a screen protector. I think this question applies to both type of users.

So, what is the best way to clean your screen?

Before we get all the smart answers of.... use spit, wipe with shirt, etc., let me clarify.

I've used fog from breath, computer screen spray, damp cloth, micro fiber cloths, but seem to have a tough time getting that windex shine.

If one has a screen saver on, we are kind of limited lest we risk lifting the corner of the protector or weakening the glue.

So how do you clean your screen?

I find the oils hardest to clean off.

wet paper towel. Ring it out so theres no water on it. Its just damp. Then a quick wipe gets it all.

I use a small cloth that comes with the previous Blackberry's. I don't use any spray or water. The cloth is good enough.

I have a few satin-smooth microfibre cloths. Some are left over from legacy BlackBerrys, when RIM used to give them away. Fog the screen with your breath and wipe. And you can wash the cloths when they get too dirty.

NEVER use paper towels - they will scratch glass. You can buy cleaning kits (spray bottle with an alcohol solution and cloth) in eyeglass stores.

Invisable Glass. No ammonia. Car tint friendly. I use it with soft cloth. I have a ghost armor protector. Spray on and wipe. Shine is like new.

After a shower I always wipe my phone on a damp part of the towel but I use soft bamboo fiber towels. There is absolutely no signs of any micro scratches.

For excess smudges and oils lightly spray windex on a soft lint free cloth then gently clean the screen with the damp side.

Everyday i wet a napkin/paper towel and just wipe the screen, keyboard and back

However, Once a week I:

1) wet paper towel
2) put a tiny amount of soap on it
3) squeeze it so everything combines
4) wipe everywhere on phone
5) wet another paper towel
6) clean off/wipe everything
7) use anther paper towel to dry/wipe off

People look at me crazy but i feel this is the only way to have good hygiene on your phone.

No to paper towels, they are made of wood so unless you want to polish your screen with lumber... bamboo is grass, so maybe better, but I agree with microfiber.
Pledge is surprisingly safe for all types of glass, including polymers, acrylics, everything.

Microfiber cleaning cloth. Dry, no cleaning solution. I use quick back and forth or circular motions, with very light to moderate pressure. Sort of buff the screen lightly.

Ditto. But I flick the screen with water before wiping. The droplets are just enough to remove stains and fingerprints.

Anyone ever does glass job would say paper is the best when it comes to cleaning glass.
Your passport screen is Gorilla glass so you can use quite a range of different stuff to clean it. What scratch the glass is often the dust particle embedded in the cleaning cloth/paper/microfiber. A grain of silicate, a quick wiping stroke, and a scratch is a sure thing.
I use Kleenex, dry or moist if the screen is too dirty. Wipe from inside out toward the edge, firm and slow stroke.
But I've always got a screen protector film on and am going to have a tempered glass protector.

As for hygiene, you can clean the screen, but you can never clean the all the bugs off your phone. There are always gaps here and there, and the speaker, the key board, and else. If you are healthy, best way is to let your phone be infested with your own microflora. It could be hard to believe but the phone may be less dangerous, in term of microbes, than many areas on and inside a human body.

Cavi wipes are awesome. They are medical grade wipes that dentists use but you can get them on Amazon.

However, if it's too dirty with tough-to-remove smudges, I apply a few drops of cheap vodka to the screen and then use a bit of elbow grease to wipe it off. Works every time.

I use a microfiber cloth, same as what I use to clean my prescription eye glasses. Sometimes I breathe on it to apply a little bit of moisture & have to rub hard, but it always comes pretty clean.

Don't use abrasive things like paper towels or napkins as they will dull the finish and ultimately scratch the screen.

Also try eyeglass cleaner. Comes in small spray bottles, about 2-3 ounces. Works pretty well.

But I do sometimes use iKlear... you can find it on amazon. Doesn't leave any residue
