Thanks, what does it say next to network? That part isn't visible on your pic. It's at the bottom. Or it might not be there if you haven't inserted your sim yet.

Any chance you could bung a sim in it? Any one will do.

Also, if the phone is locked to Vodafone, you can get them to send you a nano paygo sim for free on their website. Insert the sim, phone them to transfer your credit from the micro sim you have and then ask them to provide an unlock code. Brighthouse won't be able to help you other than to send you a nano sim as it's their mistake in sending you the wrong size sim. I'd get it straight off the Vodafone website though.

I don't think you've been the victim of fraud, I think the problem is that they sent you the wrong size sim in error and unless you insert a sim, the handset won't be registered on the network and an unlock code cannot be provided.

Step one: acquire a Vodafone UK nano sim and insert it.

Step two: call Vodafone and arrange the transfer of your credit and phone number to the nano sim.

Step three: request unlock code from vodafone for free or pay one of the other unlock companies.

I don't know why you didn't just buy an unlocked one from shop BlackBerry or Carphone warehouse in the uk or even Amazon. Also, you may be able to put a Vodafone spain nano sim in and deal with them for an unlock code.

A VF nano sim is inserted (i cut it out) and it's working fine. It doesn't show anything else. I guess when it's locked it just doesn't show "network:unlocked". But does not show "network: locked"

And did you open a pay as you go account online?

The sim card is a pay to go card yes, I put 20 pound in it for the unlocking process. Unfortunately I almost spent it all talking with VF's customer service

I have checked other IMEI lookup services (besides imei.info) and two are showing correct information. One says BB passport the other BB device. IMEI.info still shows a Galaxy young and another one is showing "unknown device". Maybe the correct info is now populating or whatever. I'll check today with VF if the have now the device registered on the network...

After many attemps, money and time lost, I put the PP on sale on eBay and bought a second hand unlocked one for the same price.

I really want to thank you all for your help, It really is amazing how some total strangers are willing to help others just out of kindness.

Thank you very very very much.

    All my love from Spain
