    Hi,

I got a text message from my cellular carrier in the middle of the month saying that I reached my data limit which was weird because usually I hardly reach half of it at the END of the month. I didn't make a big deal out of it and was sure it's a mistake or something. But then they kept on sending me messages and I wanted to check on the device monitor what was my data usage and suddenly I saw that on June 9th my browser used 9GB and I have no idea (don't remember) what I did on that day but I am so curious to know what in this world could I do that it used 9 GB on the BROWSER.

How can I figure this out?

Weirdest browser usage. 8GB in one day!-img_20150701_211811.png

Only thing I can think of is, you were on youtube and for some reason your browser chose 4K as the video resolution and just streamed the whole video??

No software update would be that large, and no App would come close. So only thing left is a video loading at 4K

Same thing happened to me last month. I accidentally had 10 tabs with GIFs/GIFVs on repeat all day long. I think that caused it.

It's an interesting topic which, first reminded how AT&T sucked the iphone data plan to retrieve personal information few years ago, but that's probably because I am paranoid

Now this can't have been a ad, way too big, nor can it have been an animated GIF, once the image is downloaded it's on your cache.

Now supposing this is not strictly linked to the browser usage :
It could have been that Spotify or any other streaming music service was still playing in the background, or maybe a satnav app, or maybe we you using the an online storage sync'ing in the background from the File Explorer, or some sort of automatic photo upload application, Also it could be that you were accidentally sharing your mobile network as a hot spot

Lol. That's the first thing I thought when I read the thread title haha.

But to be frankly, I tried watching /downloading pr0n but never reached maximum data usage.. that could be something else?

An 8GB porn is still ain't enough. It is still considered as low usage... just saying...

That would have destroyed your battery on that day (and the device must have left a burn mark wherever it was sitting).

Maybe you left a tab open that had youtube playing on automatic 'next'.

Best bet is to set a data usage alert using the device manager, I have mine set to 75%. At the very least you can salvage 25% of your data if this happens again.

    This^

I've downloaded 400mb data using Vuze and the phones top right metal strip was scorching as the battery life plummeted.

    Hope you get it sorted.
