Just confirmed that you can purchase the ATT PP without an ATT account through Best Buy (online). It gives you the option of upgrading, but if you select purchased unactivated phone (tells you that it will not affect your contract), you can then purchase the phone for $699.99 (plus tax). It takes you through checkout without asking you any other information regarding your carrier, etc! It gives you free upgraded shipping as well and the phone appears to be in-stock.

Some folks love those round corners.

Did you actually order it? You can purchase outright throufht att too for $50 less but I would be pretty damn confident that you can't complete the transaction on bestbuy without proving you have an att contract.

Amazon has it for $559, if you can wait 2 days for delivery. I got 2; 1 for TMo and the other for ATT. I had to go to both carriers to get the SIM cut down to fit and neither one asked any questions. The TMo rep was really interested in the phone; the ATT rep was like "what ever".

I don't see it on amazon. The version that is $559 is pretty clearly the factory unlocked and not the att redesign

Ironically, I prefer the original Passport with sharp corners. Now I have to admit the wireless charging capability is very awesome.

Purchased through bestbuy online with no problems or need to log into an ATT account. Also had them price match the difference between ATT and BB.

Follow up by unlocking using the non-att mobility customer. As you can see no acct number or phone number required.

Got mine unlocked from Amazon. Glad I did. I pay less for service and I prefer the original corners to the AT&T rounded ones.

Me too! I wonder if it will become more difficult to find cases/holsters since there are two versions of the Passport...

I just rechecked. Another rep told me 24-48 hours for unlock to register.
They may or may not catch on to it.

I will be returning it as soon as it's successful! I like the price and square corners. But experiment complete.
