I was just typing something and somehow managed to flick up the virtual row of numbers etc, but the numbers had a letter next to them which enabled me to use the PKB to select them...does that make sense!? How did I do this and how can I do it again!!!!!

When you are in the symbols section, hold the downward arrow on the bottom right of ur screen & that should be able u to registered symbols on the screen using th PKB. Isn't? Kinda confuse actually but there's nothing wrong trying.

I thought one could always use the pkb to select the characters.

And I think it's kind of odd that the characters of the pkb aren't displayed all the time. wouldn't that make it much more convenient to use it?

When typing, swipe down on PKB to reveal numbers then hit corresponding key. Useful for selecting individual digits but for long number swipe down then use VKB.
