Viber is the only app I have had issues with on the passport.

Firstly, there is no viber app on BBWorld for passport. Can someone else confirm this? I had it on my Z10 previously downloaded from BBWorld, which worked decently well.

For my PP, I downloaded Viber from snap. The layout is average. When I answer calls it gets disconnected immediately. Also, due to the square screen layout, the answer/reject buttons cannot be seen properly.

I have tried the zoom in/out options but not much difference.

This is not a complete deal breaker as there are other options like Skype and BBM Video (which I haven't tried yet) but would like to get viber to work on my PP as I got family using it.

Would like to hear thought from other CB members using Viber. Thanks!

I have the same problem. It gets disconnected everytime I answer the call or tried to call someone.

I suggest emailing the developer of Viber and asking them if they will support the passport with an update on their app in BlackBerry World.

You are right, it isn't there when I check with my passport but with my z30 I see it. It's now called Viber 10 though...I used it a few times but found it absolutely rubbish so deleted it.

They did not release the app for the 1:1 screen aspect ratio thats why you cant see it.

Viber support does not know it's available for BB10. And says there is no intention of development. Crazy.

Viber on my passport works perfectly. What u need to do... if you have an older bb10 phone like the z10 is back up your z10 to BlackBerry Link. Then restore only Viber to your Passport. Below are pics of how it looks with and without the zoom in feature. Enjoy..

Black B G, thanks for the response. I was thinking of loading up the version on Z10 too to test it out but thought it would not work.

Do you experience any issues when answering a call? As in do you see the answer/reject buttons on the screen properly? Mine were out of place.
Also, does the call connect when you answer? Mine gets disconnected immediately when I answer.

Are you using the z10 version? Anyhow, I haven't received a call since I loaded it up so I can't answer that question. Making a call though everything is where it should be. On my z10 I had the problem of calls disconnecting only when I used the version from Snap i.e the latest version. Using the BlackBerry 10 version works just fine so I'd assume it would work the same on the Passport. If I get a call on my Passport I'll let you know if it works ok.

I'm now using the passport, used Z10 before.
Viber worked on Z10 well apart for the bombarding notifications I get on the hub.
Issues mentioned above was when I installed viber via snap.

Let me know once you receive a call, thanks!

There is an app called Sachesi in BlackBerryWorld which will let you download apps from BlackBerryWorld that are not available for your device.

Once you buy and install Sachesi, start it, top swipe and bring up the settings menu. Set it for a Z10 rather than Passport. Then using the search function of Sachesi, search for Viber and dowoad it. Doing this will open BlackBerryWorld and start the download.

Yeah mate.. got a call and had the same problem of the answer and decline buttons kind of hidden. Was still able to answer the call tho but it is a bit of a nuisance. Note tho this was with it zoomed in. Might actually be better with the zoom out feature applied.

Xsacha, thanks for the link to viber older version, this worked!

Unlike the version from SNAP, I can make calls as well as receive without any disconnecting issues now. Messaging works too.

    Some thoughts for other users:
UI wise, the app looks best when zoomed in. However this will hide the answer/reject buttons when RECEIVING calls. It also hides some button options such as 'speaker' DURING a call. For me, this format is unusable due to these reasons.
Zoomed out version is recommended which is also nice with a tablet-like layout.
The app runs in the background and manage to receive calls/texts with no issues while the app was closed. Call quality is good too.

Viber app on BB10/passport is not that great but atleast it's usable now
