Really? the A8 64 bit 20 nm was just released while the Snapdragon 800 was released in May 2013( over a year old) and btw the Snapdragon 801 and 805 have been out for quite sometimes but they decided to equip the Passport with the older cpu
Even granting that (and I do), the Passport still has the most current components I've ever seen in a BB handset at launch. And you can make the argument that the 801 and even the 805 don't represent more than incremental enhancements.

Still a 100$ too expensive for a BlackBerry and keyboard phone, but definitively a way better pricing than their previous phones.

At least they are on the right track.

Apparently not. JC maybe didn't get the memo, but this device is more expensive than every flagship for this year except the iPhone 6 Plus in 64GB configuration or better. It's coming in at $750 CAD for a carrier locked device in Canada.

$599 is a very decent price for the passport, almost a steal!

$733 in Dubai and $750 in Telus. Ummm so where exactly is it going to be priced $599?

The computer magazine 'iX' in Germany just mentioned the Passport with a price of 599 Euros. Not sure if this price will be correct but it it raises high hopes.
Still no mentioning on Amazon.com or carriers - so not sure where to buy.

I am hoping a factory unlocked version is available on Blackberry online store today for the 599.00 US? If so, I have my credit card ready to buy one. I checked this morning and nothing yet.

    I have to try one.
The keyboard is really the one thing that makes me hesitate.
Since I have no idea how good the whole hybrid thing will work, I have to hold it in my hands before buying it.

Patiently awaiting the launch in Switzerland...

The fact that they are charging $100 more and even charging shipping is a slap to Canadians.

I will wait to buy it at $700. Way to go!

UPDATE: Chen just said "I don't know why they priced it at $699 Canadian "

    Wow

650 Euro in Europe is a pricing fail...
That's basically the same pricing as the iPhone 6 (50 Euro less...) or the current and yet to come Android flagships.

The HTC One and the Xperia Z2 are cheaper, the Note 4, LG G3 and the Z3 are pretty much the same price wise.
I just don't see it, how they will justify the price and I honestly don't like that...

Order placed. I'm sold on the keyboard from the demo they showed. I like it.

I hope I'll have it this weekend to play! It may be some time before we upgrade our BES to support this, which is unfortunate. But I can use it for personal email at least.

Exactly. It is $750 plus tax that is $850, US gets it for $600 and they have less tax... probably looking at max $675. it is actually a $200 difference.

The $700 price was Telus off contract, but they are taking $50 off until October. Even at $ 700 tax adds $91... crazy.

It is a Canadian company, they should be charging other countries more not us.

Just reading this and thinking about it....could you please elaborate for me once again why someone with 650 Euro in his pocket to spend on a phone should clearly prefer an iPhone 6 for 50 Euro more, or a Note 4 or a Z3 or a G3 for the same or an M8 or Z2 for less? I lost it.

That would be the small 16GB iPhone with its small display and poor resolution, half the storage, no microSD card slot, an old 8Mpx camera without OIS, poor battery life and no touch enabled physical keyboard. Not really comparable, but somehow the Passport is still slightly cheaper.
