I don't get why everyone is losing it about the prices exchange rates between CAD/USD... BlackBerry has always made it the same price in both countries either $599 CAD or $599 USD for example... it's just always been like that :/

At today's conversion rates USD $600 equals $662 Canadian.

$662 Canadian dollars plus 13% is $748, which is almost exactly $750.

Doesn't the Canadian price include a sales tax? The U.S. price does not include tax. The actual price in most states will be more than $599.

No I'm still not sure where everyone is getting this extra hundred, with tax in CA, it should be around ~$660 with tax, but it depends on where you're getting it from. If it's from a carrier likely their listing price will be $599, therefore around that price previously stated... :\

Well I would say that's the right strategy and the right price.

For technology that is officially a year or two old now I would have expected it be priced right. The Samsung Note 4 and now the new iPhone 6 are generations ahead of BlackBerry. BlackBerry themselves have to stop playing catch up and start leading the race.

A year or two old? The phone runs a Snapdragon 800, has a Full HD display and 3 Gigs of RAM. How is that a year or two old?

Blackberry should sell the Passport on Amazon for the US market, come on make use of the partnership.

Not a bad idea though it needs to be available through AT&T and Verizon also IMO.

In fairness Apple can under spec their phones due to the strength and draw of their ecosystem. If BB had the same ecosystem they could get away with under speccing as well. However they don't, so they need something to draw attention to their devices. In the case of the Passport, I see no issue at all with the specs or the price, or the price in relation to the specs. Criticize them for having an immature ecosystem, and relying too heavily on Android, but the price and specs of this phone in isolation are not bad at all.

Yes, the iPhone 6 has a more powerful CPU (anybody who is denies that is just wrong).

I already discussed this last year when the 5S came out. I've already shown that while the processor is technically more powerful, it only matters when the OS and Apps are designed specifically to work with the 64bit architecture.

Let's stop discussing this, because benchmarks will show the iPhone 6's processor as better (because it is, and the benchmark apps work with 64bit instructions); but you're not going to notice a difference in performance of the CPU on either device.

Both CPUs are too powerful for either device (Yes, they are...the iPhone 5 has shown this), but each are there for their own specific purpose in the spec race.

However, the other specs of the iPhone 6 are actually behind the Passport. These are just hard facts. The same as the Passport's specs are behind that of the G3.

Either way, this isn't the place to discuss this since this thread is about whether the pricing for the Passport is appropriate (yeah, I know that comparisons should be drawn with other devices, but the merits should not be argued in this thread).

I like the $599 pricing of the Passport...it means that it will be about R8.5K in South Africa (~$770), which is about the same as the Z30 was when it came out...and still a lot cheaper than the Samsung S5 and the iPhone 6.
