Ok so I got the passport file linked in the first page on the desktop. I installed 7zip did the exe file and have 7 zip on my computer too. When I open it and click add says function not allowed. Then I opened it and dragged the passport file on it and some download happened for a bit. The output file went on my desktop too and was about a gb larger than the passport file but that still ends with 7z and not exe.

Your file is a white icon. Lets go slow. Right click on the white icon, and then click on 7 zip in that menu. Then click "extract to: ...." the numbers of the autoloader. That will put it in a regular folder for you.

Okay so figured that part out browsed to the passprt file through 7zip and extracted it. Have an exe file sitting on the desktop called rim wireless device command line auto programme...I double clicked it and some small black screen opens up and even before I can read it, it closes right away. WTF is happening here argh this is getting so frustrating!!!!

    That's why we go slow.

Now plug your phone in with a usb cord. Then click the white and green autoloader icon

When I rigjt click the white file there is no 7zip option. So I opened 7zip and browsed to it within 7zip and extracted to my desktop. There's no folder but an exe file has been sitting on the desktop but when I double click it the pattern I mentioned before happens.

Is the exe file white and green, with the autoloader number?

Yes the exe file is a square white and green file with "Passport_OS_10_3_1_2267" as the name.

Good. So now do you have Link on the computer? I think you need to open Link, then close it.

I don't have BB link on this laptop. Do I need it?

I believe that is why the autoloader is closing on you.
First open Link, let it connect to your phone, then close it.

Make sure that you have your phone connected with the usb cord, and do not disconnect. Make sure it won't accidentally get unplugged.

What was the error? We can find a fix if we know what error it is.

I just restarted the install and it worked now. So it looks like it's going on now so let's see what happens. Thanks everyone for all your help during this frustrating time.

So the process finished and now it looks like the battery might be dead. It's plugged into the wall with yellow light blinking with battery sign popping up whenever I try to turn it on. Gonna wait a few.
