I personally haven't had that issue. Have you tried to turn your phone off for about 10 minutes, then turn it back on?

No such issues here. Slight amount of bleed on the far left edge of the middle metal bar of the keyboard but that's it

No I didn't try turning it off and on after ten minutes. It seems like the led lights they put in the middle of the keyboard are less bright and vivid than the keys on the far left (qaz) and far right (iknolmp). Kind of bothersome at first glance when it comes on.

I asked a similar question a while back. People replied this is a common "problem" with the Passport. My first one had this and now my second one has it too.

Yes I can but it's very hard to see an led issue with a picture. You have to see it for yourself in person bc a picture will be an accurate representation of said issue.

I also have uneven keyboard back lights. To be honest this doesn't nearly bother me as much as my stained back cover.

I think both ends seem brighter than the middle portion of the kb. I thought it might be a defect, now I guess most people have this issue too

Yes and no, some Qs had problems with slightly uneven backlight, however there it was rather from top to bottom or vice versa. My first Q had a slightly dimmer light on the 4th row, the new one has a slightly dimmer light on the 1st row. It was not as noticeable however, especially because the keyboard is more compact.

I have dimmer RTYU, FGHJ and VB keys. Just noticed it tonight. Hard reboot didn't help. I hope I don't focus on that every time I use my phone now..... has anybody done a return because of this?

That's what mine looks like. I really couldn't care less about it. Gives it a sense of spatial distribution,.. or something.

Is it edge lit LED? It would make sense that the far left and far right are brighter than the center. I have this problem too although I never noticed it until I read this topic so mine is very subtle.

It likely is lit at the edges and then they just use a silicone/flexible light-guide behind the keys.

Don't worry about. You will stop noticing it very soon just like I did, and I consider myself ultra anal about stuff like this. It only took me two weeks to get over it and now I really don't care about it. Last thing you need is exchange your passport and have to deal with a more defective unit.

I have exact same problem. Not being anal about it but really how much more it would have cost blackberry to put one more LED in middle or design a better lit guide system?

Guy, don't bother rebooting 'cause it won't help.
Anyone here had open up a BlackBerry OS7 or earlier models would remember there were about 6 to 8 little led light under the KB. I guess it is the same for Passport. Thus the closer to the led the brighter and you see the uneven KB light.
For the smiley KB, they are smaller, they got more symbols/ characters on one key which means more light getting through. And the curved key row help channeling/ distributing light better, I guess.
