    Hi all,

Has anybody bought a PPSE sim-free? I cant find a 'legitimate' site selling for anything less than 395ish...

There's sites such as onedigitals.co.uk selling for 315 but looks like a dodgy import and has a poor rating on trustpilot.

Simplyelectronics.net is another, selling for 338ish but again, seems like a dodgy import.

BlackBerry direct, carphone warehouse, clove etc are all around 395+

    Any thoughts?

I'm holding out for one at a good price. Carphone Warehouse occasionally have good deals on BlackBerry phones ... got my Q5 for 99 and Z10 for 149 from them.

I bought my Passport (original) sim-free from CarPhoneWarehouse (nearly a year ago) because I wanted to purchase sim-free from a vendor that:
    • could give me a GB VAT Invoice
    • had a store I could visit (rather than be something anonymous on the web)
    • was cheaper than purchasing directly from BlackBerry/Amazon

A relative has been looking to get a Passport (I hope he doesn't slide off into the Dark Side and get a Priv!) and when he recently visited CarPhoneWarehouse they only had the SE edition in stock (even though he could only see the original Passport on their website)... they offered him unlocked Passports, either with a contract (apparently very good offers), or contract-free (like mine). The chap he dealt with at CarPhoneWarehouse (Selfridges, London) also dropped some heavy hints that come January 2nd 2016, there would probably be some serious discounting of the Passport.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks ... also check out Expansys from time to time as they also do deals either directly or through Rakuten (formerly Play.com)

For few quid less, I wouldn't risk it and would go with Amazon or UK BBRY shop. OG was from Amazon UK, SE from shopblackberry, never had a single issue and if I did, I'd know I'd be well treated as a customer

If you can put up with a Qwertz keyboard, go for amazon de. You'll get your passport SE for about 385 on there.

All of the ones I have recently bought from amazon UK have had screen and /keyboard faults (all have been returned). Incidently, i bought each of the faulty SEs for 386 (from Amazon uk) but a month on, they're cheekily selling them for 482!! The only good thing about Amazon uk is their returns/replacement policy.

I resisted buying from cpw as they are too expensive imo at 429. IMO, cpw also can be difficult if you want to return your phone

Paid 330 for a new SE from eBay. The seller got it for free by renewing his contract. It is sim free and works great. If you don't care for warranty, keep an eye on Gumtree. Sometimes new ones pop up and sell about 300 each

I got mine via eBay - extremely lucky to get it for only 300 (including a Sync Pod!) - the seller was getting rid of it due to it being 'to big for my hands' and literally got it a week later!

If you do go down this route, ensure you get plenty of photos and ask that you get photos once booted up with the Blackberry logo and Language Set-Up AND check the IMEI number to ensure not stolen, etc

Extremely lucky to find this so cheap - best 300 I've spent in a long time

I got super lucky with mine. I bought a black Passport from Envirofone on eBay for 240 refurbished and in "like new" condition. When I opened it up, they had actually sent me a Silver Edition instead. It looks brand new. Couldn't be happier.

Try Clove Technology. I have bought many BlackBerry phones including 2 passports over a year ago. Can't beat their excellent superb customer service.

Bought a red passport from simply electronics, when the phone arrived it had marks on and someone had been using the browser, sent it back and took me forever to get a refund, however have bought iPad minis and one iPhone 6 without any hiccups previous. Then went via Blackberry shop for SE passport and received it with no free case etc which was supposed to accompany the phone and phone had call logs of 3 and half days on phone so somebody had been using that phone, sent back and bought from mobilephonedirect without any glitches might I add.

Simply electronic was cheapest, Blackberry shop dearest but both with problems and mobilephonesdirect was 380 back in early September so maybe worth a try now.

All these other 'cheaper sites' are imports which im not keen on....

Try your local CarPhoneWarehouse - though their website only shows the original Passport, when my brother-in-law went into the one in Selfridges (London) just before Christmas, they only had the SE edition in stock and gave heavy hints about discounting in January 2016 (though they also said that they sold quite a few every week, interestingly mostly to foreigners)
