This feature usually works when my Passport is laying horizontal, but almost never works when the phone is vertical in a cradle.

I'd really like to have it work when the phone is vertical so I can glance at the incoming on the lock screen. I've searched thru all the settings, tried turning the power saver on and off, tried changing the screen time-out value, tried turning "Hold to Stay Awake" to off.... still I can't get the phone to wake when vertical and display lock screen messages

Does anyone know the secret to making this work?

that's how it is there is no secret i would like that too ,that would be the point to see it when it's on cradle not when laying flat
it must have something to do with the fact that if you want to stop the ring you face it down
but you get the led blinking

Ok thanks for chiming in, it's a relief to know that it's not a issue with only me or my phone or a combination thereof.

Hopefully this will resolved in some future OS update.
