I did a bit of research and I found RetiCAM put out the best mount. Check it out. The XL version accommodates widths from 2.75" to 3.6". The width of the Passport is 3.56".

Please share if you know one with better quality or price. I know about Joby tripod mount but it's made of plastic.

Yes it's for taking pictures. You mount it on the tripod and use it to clam your phone. It looks very sturdy.

Good share. I'm adding this to my Christmas list, good for waterfalls and long exposure. Did you find a good tripod to mount this one?

IMO, if you're going to bring a tripod with you, might as well bring a DSLR or video camera. Unless you don't have one.
Or unless this is for a mini tripod.

Why stop there. Bring your DSLR, your very high quality tripod for your DSLR (NOT this one), bag(s), lenses, lighting, etc.

These tripods and mounts are all about mobile photography. I realize there exists those who don't think there is such a thing, but there is.

It isn't so much better when you want to carry as little as possible.

I have an existing tripod that I'm with my Sony NEX6. It has ball head. I think the mount fits right on it.

Yes that's a fair thought but I've moved away from using my DSLR unless the light is great or in going out to shoot intentionally with a photography purpose. If I'm just hiking with family or friends I just want to stop dragging my full frame Nikon with me. I've got about a year backlog of photos to sort and edit. Adding weak shots from my dlsr to that isn't worth it for me.

Mini tripod is what I meant. Now that I think about it I have a gorilla mini tripod somewhere. Should fit this head well.

Nah. If anything I'd go mirror less, that sony rx100 is solid I hear.

I've got my Nikon full frame DSLR for serious shooting.

Both! It doesn't sit perfectly flush on the passport back so I modded the galaxy (I think S3) mount to fit into my cheap TPU passport case. Blue tape is temp.. I love those lenses, especially wide angle. I'll post some example shots.

Here's what the mod looks like:

I contacted Moments in hopes they would make some plates for the Passport - I'm not holding my breathe.

Everyone should contact them about this. Mount plates would be great. My mount mod leaves a little vignette.

I did and they told me a few weeks ago they would consider it. I don't have high hopes either.

Did you miss the part that he wants a tripod for the phone? A tripod is bigger than a DSLR

I said a DSLR because you can get pretty cheap ones in the second hand market. Since he wants to carry a tripod, i don't see the problem in getting a DSLR aswell. It's easier to carry a DSLR than a tripod

Not this tripod. Take another look. This one is tiny.
