    In short,
At random times my Passports touch screen will only respond around the very edge of the screen (first 1/4" of the screen) while the majority of the screen in the middle is non responsive.

Two times I was able to open the phone app and/or calculator app to make the middle of the screen to become responsive again. But the majority of the times I have to do a restart.

    Anyone else running across this?

Is it a brand new passport with the original screen paper in it?

I'm not sure. It is a refurbished device straight from BlackBerry

No, there is no protector screens being used.
Normally when it happens, the upper right corner of the phone gets warmer than usual.

I've narrowed the issue down to it only happening after running Android apps.

Have you identified the app that is causing the problem? Or any android app would trigger the issue?

So far it seems to be any Android app. And only one android app has to be open or running as an active frame during higher CPU or RAM usage.

Like I had an Android music app open as active frame. Then went to browsing the Web then received a phone call.
So I took the call. Ended the call. Swiped up out of phone app.
Low and behold the screen was touch less except for around the edges.

    Another time or example
My son was playing kid games Android apps.
    He had three active.
I grabbed the phone from him, swiped up from the app he was playing and all of a sudden I wasn't able to touch anything but the edges of the phone to do anything.

Only two time since I have noticed this have I been able to fix it without restarting the phone.
The first time I was able to catch the edge of the calculator app icon. Opened it, swiped up to close it. And then the full screen was active again.

The second time, I waited for 10 to 15 minutes and it just started working on its own again.

    I take that all back.....
Since my last response, there has been two days where I haven't run an android app. But I still got a non responsive screen.

Did you run BBVE and see what the screen tests say?

Me hardy can open phone app at once, mostly need two or three taps in the left corner, but BBVE says all fine

Perhaps it's time for a backup and wipe. If the BBVE tests haven't revealed anything, than either a software upgrade or wipe seems to be in order.

Then you need to make a call or get down to your carrier. That device needs service. You have isolated the problem and ruled out software. The display is faulty and needs to be replaced.

My replacement SE that I got yesterday seems to be not very responsive. Is it because I left the original packaging screen protector on?

Most likely yes since the packaging screen protector isn't really meant for that. If you want to use a screen protector you should buy a proper one.

Actually it's kind of hard to tell if it's software related or hardware related.
Because there is no consistency to or when it happens.
Here's a video of the problem. Sorry about it being on Google Drive, but if you have Google account it's easy to go view the video. The link is below.
