I'd be interested to give this a try...it seems as though the extra length at the bottom might make typing on the keyboard a slight bit more natural...and the lack of sharp corners could make sliding in and out of pockets a little smoother. Love my Passport 1.0, but if my local AT&T store has these in stock at some point, I want to test drive it.

Extra length probably just for the att logo.

To be fair, actual passports have rounded edges, just like the at&t Passport does.

Never seen a passport with rounded edges.. I responded in another thread about this same thing.

My US passport has ZERO rounded edges. What country are you in that has a rounded edge passport?????

Regardless, it still may improve typing feel for some...and I've never had any problem removing the logo

I wonder which ones of you have held a Passport in person and which have used one for a bit of time...

At first I thought the pictures of the Passport looked odd with the square corners. Once I got my device though, I thought it was a good design. I've even had a couple random people comment on how nice they thought it looked. Now I think the rounded corners look a little odd...

No, not really. At least my Canadian one doesn't. Just the two corners are ever so slightly rounded. I'd defiantly say the original BB Passport is closer to the real thing.

I like the original. The new one doesn't look like a passport anymore! Passports have sharp edges... so should the Passport.

I also don't buy the official reasoning. Based on what Chen said, BlackBerry bent over at catered to the request of att to redesign the phone before choosing to carry it. Since when was BlackBerry in the business of catering to carrier's demands to satisfy the consumer market? Never! Especially in the Chen area where they're supposedly focused on enterprise. There's clearly something else going on.

It is good for BlackBerry because the consumer have an option of which version they like. IMO I initially hated the square look of the PP. It slowly...very slowly grew on me to the point where I identified it's square edges as being something exclusive. This round version from ATT looks like every other device on the market..very vanilla and bland...like a KB Android lol.

I guess it's half and half then, because the left corners are definitely pointy, but the right top and bottom corners are definitely rounded...

I bet the discussion went as follows:

ATT: make us a a passport with rounded edges pls.

Chen: you need to promise to purchase x amount of units from us if we are to go ahead and make this revision for you.

ATT: we will promise to buy x amount.

Chen: *does math in head to determine profit from selling x amount to ATT* alright you have a deal!

The straight edges on the Original Passport make it look more robust, like an Executive's Smartphone, IMHO. I prefer the Original, all the way.

I don't think rounded corners will make or break it's popularity. It will be nice for people in the US to actually see and hold one now. That very fact alone will cause sales to climb.
