Mine hasn't been functioning properly from an update early last year (10.2?) Basically, I have to swipe up 2 or more times to wake up the phone which I've noticed right after updating my Passport. I wish BBVE would have a test for the swipe up functionality. I also make sure the surface of the screen and keyboard are clean.

I recently had a screen protector on my Passport, and that seemed to really negatively affect the swipe to wake. I took it off and it got better, but even now it does not seem as effective as it was on my Z10.
I am not sure if it is because of the form factor or it just being a problem with all Passports, but it has helped to keep the screen clean of fingerprints.

The screen protectors might have an issue but it's hard to say. All my BB10 devices have tempered glass screen protectors (from different eBay sources). My Q10 and one of my Passports is effortless but sometimes the Z30 and other Passport require a few swipes.

I had a tempered glass protector and that certainly had a negative effect.
I do seem to notice a decrease in sensitivity vs my old z10.

I usually press "u" and then enter instead of the swipe

I knew of the "u" to wake the phone, but didn't know you can also press enter to bring it out of the lock screen.

I have become concerned about this as well.. I'd prefer the response to be more immediate. I'm on a Passport btw, and it takes a few milliseconds before it actually lights up after the swipe.

Sometimes you have to swipe from the middle of the screen. It won't always work on the sides.

Start your swipe from the space bar. I kinda have a habit of doing that anyway because I've owned quite a few biometric enabled devices like fingerprint reader addons for laptops, my Sony UX 280P(s)/390N and recent Samsung devices like the GS6, Note 4 and Note 5... So in other words, already used to the whole "swipe to unlock" motion...this is sorta the same...familiar...just in reverse...

Hey, thanks for that 'u' plus return trick. What amazes me about my Blackberrys is that I keep finding new tricks and shortcuts.
