Buy and do the things you want if your able. Can't take your money with you to the other side. So go ahead and let the bank account drop a few dollars if you want it.

Hahaha, nah, too many times burnt by BlackBerry. I still use their devices. Heck, this was posted from a Z10. They are out to lunch completely if they don't honor the $599 price in Canada. I want to see then back in the hot seat. It's frustrating to see obvious blunders time and time again. I don't know why I feel so passionate about it really. Something about the iconic status of BlackBerry, and them being Canadian. Also, they do have control over carrier pricing. In fact, they can control the entire channel if they wish. Allowing Telus or anyone else to offer the device st such high prices will only hurt them. It will do nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, to help the brand.

I guess I should also add that as a Canadian I am tired of being price gouged. We pay more for everything here, often with no good reason behind it. One example, the new Volvo XC90, when asked why they are pricing it $15,000 more in Canada than in the US, the response was basically "the market will bear it so we do it because we can".

I hear you (and feel your pain), but you're hearing a second-hand account of carrier pricing and assuming it's BlackBerry's actual retail price. Why go out of your way to find things to get upset about?

Since I live in a small town, I guess that's why it is taking an extra week for me to buy the Passport.
It sounds like it will be available tomorrow in places, but not my town.
No biggee, I have waited this long, one more week won't kill me.
Plus, I can read all the reviews and learn a few tips and tricks before I get mine....
    Enjoy tomorrow people.

Bulletin on TELUS's internal sales force network is up. Sales to start tomorrow no sooner than 10:00 AM EST. Launching with 3 OEM accessories, and with exclusivity to TELUS for the first seven days. No mention of pricing, but it does say that employees can purchase upon launch, and there will be availability at all locations, and mentions Blend!

Good info but a small correction.

The current exchange rate is 1.106 so $599 x 1.106 = $662 CAD + 13% HST in Ontario = $748.62 so a price of $750 CAD taxes in is a fair price in relation to the US price.

Omg, I just went into store, she was not understanding, the Passport IS available tomorrow!! It was the special pricing she was confused about.
So, to recap, the phone is available tomorrow, even in my small little town at the Telus store....special pricing until Oct 2.
No accessories yet though, and yes, I did get to pick it up.
It's gorgeous, super sexy, maybe a bit "boxier" than I thought, but it slid in my back pocket like it was made for it....!!!
    Can't wait till tomorrow!!

In Canada a Province either has PST (Provincial Sales Tax - which is like a State Tax) and GST (Government Sales Tax - which is a Federal Tax) or they have HST which is a combo both. Most HST is between 12-13%.

Man and I thought our taxes in the states sucked. Well it does as a retailer/wholesaler like me but it surely isn't as bad for consumers.

    NYC I think is 8%.
PA is 6% but Philly adds at least 1%.
    Delaware is 0%
Florida is the pain for me as we have state tax of 6% and then each county adds .25% to 1-1/2% percent.

Am I to assume your fed sales tax is where your health care costs (and other services) gets financed from? Just curious.

Albertians have it easy, low tax low legal age and high starting wages but I hear there's nothing to do there

By the way, you guys with the demos can you check the model number of the device and the band's?

That's it! I have the day off, and I'm going to every Telus store I can find to download the Amazon app store on the demos. In addition, I'll use NFC to transfer some other APK files from my Z30 so customers can see Icons for Netflix, Candy crush, Instagram, etc.. already pre-loaded
