For Telegram I'm running the same version as listed above 3.18.1 I got this from 9apps. For Signal I'm running version 3.31.0. Both work well for me.

I'm running the true Telegram 9apps is a reliable place to get apps. Been using 9apps for android apps for awhile and no problems. For Signal I googled it with that version. I don't remember which site I downloaded it from but it works well.

Yeah funny the Android version of Telegram actually works better. Other than viewing the emoji's. Perhaps it's cause I'm on the Passport

    Haven't tried signal yet.

Just installed Signal Private Messenger and it works even better. Like it.
My friend insists on using it for his shady business.
I tried these a while back from the Google play store and failed due to Google Play Services.
This time I downloaded both Telegram and Signal from Aptoide and works great.

    thank you

When I tried the android version of telegram typing would be terrible on the Passport, you'd start typing and then it would go to the beginning of the line...

Haven't noticed any significant battery drain at all. If you want you can install Taskmanager and force stop any android apps
