Another thing that feels kind of odd for me coming from the Z10 is the rather long swipe gesture it takes to wake up the device. On my Z10 it feels like one third of the screen size. So I can easily stop there and take a look at the info displayed. But on the passport it's like I've got to swipe up over half of the display. So there's no clear point to stop the gesture so that it doesn't take me directly to my homescreen.

How do you guys deal with that?

Same here. I used to use this particular feature often with my z10, but not with my passport.

Just found out a great way to easily check your lockscreen for any kind of updates. Simply press "u" while the device is locked (black screen).

I know there are tons of keyboard shortcuts but I really didn't know about that one.

You get used to it; the Z30 also requires a long swipe on a longer screen so Passport isn't as bad with a screen half the height. By now I just a hard swipe for about a quarter and lighter the rest of the way, as if I was throwing it into the air. Beats the heck out of reaching all the way to the top. To me at least.

Swiping from a black screen is wonky at best, I got sick of sometimes needing to swipe multiple times and so far up that I just turned it off and use the lock button. Or as someone else suggested, click U to check notifications and swipe from there if necessary

The swipe to wake function on the Z10 is so much better. I thought my Passport was broken and almost returned it because I could not get swipe to wake to work. Apparently, a quick flick is not enough. You really need to guide your finger up the screen. Also, it feels very laggy compared the the smooth swiping on the Z10.

I just push U, & swipe immediately after, & I get right in. Also lift to wake is set to On in my settings which takes care of a lot of my instances where I need to wake the phone.

I can swipe with my thumb holding it in one hand...works great, but I do have big hands!

Well I can wake up and unlock the device one-handed at the same time. But it is unbelievably hard to just wake up the device to check what's new. It feels like I've got to swipe up 3/4 of the screen length and then back down a bit to do so.

Best advice I've read in a long time:

... as someone else suggested, click U to check notifications ....
When I read that, one/two weeks ago, I didn't think much of it but tried it a couple times and realized it's the most efficient way to check the notifications quickly when out in the car or at work with just a click of a button.
