In reading the description of the Slimport brand devices, its indicated that it doesn't have universal compatibility. For anyone who has tested showing a presentation, which brand did you buy?

In addition, has anyone tried a Slimport* to VGA adapter? I was interested in buying a HDMI/VGA combo cable so I can use it on older displays as well, but have read somewhere that VGA out is only supported for a few devices (LG springs to mind).

And do you take only the MHL adapter with you when you go out, or do you also take a HDMI cable just to be sure? (Only if you expect to need Video output of course.)
    _____
I was confused: does MHL work as well? That would be great but the specs only say Slimport..?

Please send me where to get that cable once you find it. I'm also interested in it

Have you tried it? I would think an MHL adapter wouldn't work as it is a different standard than SlimPort if I am correct. Do you have a Passport and have tried it with it?

I have exactly the same question.

By the way: is there a Slimport adapter, that also provides USB OTG in the same adapter and a possibility to charge the battery at the same time?

I've been using the one from monoprice for a couple of months (beta). Works well, allows charging at the same time. Much more affordable than most retailers at about $12 each...I recommend ordering 2 or 3 to save on shipping and have some backups just in case...still worth it

*SO...apparently I haven't posted enough on here so I can't post the link! Just Google search "monoprice slimport", and it's the first link the shows up

If you want to connect to vga, order a male hdmi to female vga adapter...I believe I tried this before and it worked as well (haven't used it for a while).

I think I read on the Slimport main website that these are planned, but I am not sure if they already exist.

I don't think Slimport supports simultaneous Video and USB OTG, since it uses the 3 micro usb data pins for video. I'm pretty sure most slimport adapters let you charge (if you connect a micro USB source to the "third end") at the same time though.

That one didn't work for me unless I had to activate it somehow in the phone settings.

What I found now are these 2 adapters. Sorry, I don't have enough posts to post links. But go to Amazon and type in the names of the adapters.

Anpower USB OTG & MHL To HDMI HDTV Adapter SD/TF Card Reader For Galaxy S3 S4 Note2 II

Smays 5-in-1 MicroUSB MHL to HDMI Cable with OTG Camera Connection Kit / 11-pin Micro USB Adapter for Samsung Galaxy S2 S3 S4 i9500 Note2 N7100 (Black)

It seems, that they work only with Samsung as they have a 11-pin Micro-USB-port. And even with Samsung people have problems using USB OTG and MHL at the same time. I guess, it has to be tried with the Blackberry to clarify if it works.

I haven't got a Passport yet but I bought this combo a month ago to use with it and my existing long microHDMI cable. Should work. Both are from China though so it would take awhile. Might be USA sellers but for a little more dough.

Amazon has three models on their site SP002, 003 and 004 + a vga adapter model SP2003.

Anyone knows which one if they work well on the Passport. They look like the same model BlackBerry is selling.

    The links are:

Also this cable looks good, anyone one know if this works as well?

It would be good if there was a standard that these protocol interface devices would use and the manufacturers would stick to. It would make purchasing them so much easier. Looks like that's what most people are complaining about in the comments.

This is correct. We don't have MHL, we have Slimport, and they are different standards and not cross compatinble.
