Most will agree Skype ("Native") on Q10 is absolutely horrible most of the time.

Anyone have experience with the Amazon /Android App or the Skype from BlackBerry World on the Passport?

I'd love to be able to get Hub Skype messages. It's the only thing that sucks about being on BlackBerry since it's the only popular communication tool not working well on BB10... yet I hope!

    Thanks

I've been curious about this too. I use Skype often, but it really can be a bit frustrating on my Q10.

Yeah its terrible! Worst app by-far. Nothing crashes 1/8 as much for me at least. And I've had two Q10s.

I tried the BlackBerry world Skype on my Passport. Seems to run well. I didn't try out video chat though. Chat messages came through to hub. The only problem was I couldn't see a way to sign out or close Skype. I just killed the app from device monitor. But I had to do it twice for some reason.

OP, I agree. Skype on the Q10 is quite pathetic. Skype is generally bloated and stupid everywhere even on a laptop computer, but on the Q10, it is just ridiculously bad.

Skype is probably the worst app on BlackBerry (yeah i'm over dramatic).
On a Q10, this piece of **** make me wants to throw my phone over the window.
I also still think that Skype is a **** on computer too... I miss MSN Messenger era.

I don't know if it's better on passport, but I imagine the app still the same. And if I remember well, last time I tried it on an Android phone, it was ****ty too. It's not BlackBerry fault.

Skype on Z10 from BBWorld has no issues. I use it everyday for work. Works as it should, not sure about Q10 though. I am interested to learn how Amazon Skype performs on a Passport.

Excuse me, what OS are you currently using on q10? Skype did not work on mine since I upgraded to 10.3

On Passport it's good. Nothing exceptionally, but it's not laggy as before.

The BB app world version works on my PP. Tested the video chat with an iPhone 5 user. Worked fine.

Skype runs fine, but for some reason it periodically polls something on the network. I haven't used it for days (and made sure to completely close it) and yet... every time I look at my device manager battery usage chart... I see Skype on the list with about 1.5% battery use. When I tap and hold, the close icon is greyed out meaning it's no longer running.

Quite bizarre since I have even done a hard reset in between now and the last time I used it.

I must be unlucky... 2 Q10, 1 Z10, 2 Lumia 920, 1 Samsung Galaxy S2, and on all of these phones, Skype was a crap.
When I read there that Skype runs perfectly on your phone, I don't know if I have to trust you or not. I can't be that unlucky seriously.

Agree with u. Skype on my Z10 less stable than on my Samsung S2. Wechat also got problem in Z10. I must alway ON (cannot close) the Wechat apps to receive Wechat message. Until today my Wechat still unable to receive vedio message.

I think I used Skype for like 20 times on BlackBerry 10 devices (from launch). I had some minor annoyances sometimes but usually I could complete my calls, be it voice or video, and be pretty ok with it. But indeed, it could be better. BBM voice and video kicks it's *** big time.

    Hey just a little tip.

Go into the settings area of the Skype app and turn off all notifications, this is the reason why its polling every now and then.

When I installed it, my battery suffered, until I turned that off and also turned off 'automatically sign in'.

After I did those 2 things, battery life went back to normal and Skype was doing things by itself once signed out and closed.

It depends how you use it, as I never use it unless my contact messages me that they are online and ready to talk.

It's a good app in terms of how it runs on the Passport, but the app in general sucks whether on BB10 or Android.

Always remember to sign out before closing the app otherwise your battery life will suffer.

Not fair. My work uses Skype. I don't want to just use my Note 3 for Skyping.

Update, I got it working with Cobalts's google tools on his landing page. Downloaded it from his play store and everything works flawlessly.
