I agree! I live in Perth and I have been waiting for this as I wasn't to keen on the original passport shape I even tried to get the AT&T variant as I preferred the shape of that one.
I disgust me that the price is so ridiculously high Blackberry want people to buy there phones but at $999 Aus Dollars you having a laugh!! especially when in America its $549 on Amazon.com.
I currently use the classic which I went to from the Z30 but I want something bigger and the new silver Passport fits my brief but not at $999 looks like I am gonna have to look elsewhere now.

I agree!! I am absolutely disgusted at this price its just daylight robbery, I currently use the classic which I went to from the Z30 and even though I love my classic I really miss having something a bit bigger so the silver passport fits my brief because I prefer the physical keyboard.
I wasn't keen on the original shape of the passport and even tried to get the AT&T variant shipped here to Perth WA but the cost of doing this wasn't worth it so when I saw that the silver edition had been issued I was excited as the shape looks better in my opinion.
So at $999 Aus Dollars its not going to happen and unless I can source it cheaper from elsewhere if not I will have to look for something different.

hm, it's about $50 to mail to Australia I think from the US for about that size of box/weight? I forget, its been a while since I needed to send something there.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to find a friend in US to buy it for you then mail it? I'd offer but I don't want to be the middleman :S I do that for family already over in Asia lol

eyeb, many thanks for that, it wasn't so much as the cost of shipping it would have been the import tax on top of it, I will just wait to see if I can source it from elsewhere or wait for the price to drop as not many people will buy it at the price here, well I am hoping lol.

didn't know you paid import tax if someone mailed it to you, I mean a private person not company.

Like if you bought it in the market on this forums and they mailed it to you, how would they charge you import tax?

$900! That's robbery. A quick calculation using today's exchange rates (8/10/15 mm/dd/yyyy) says it should be no more than $800 AUD!

    Capitalism at its best.

I'm thinking of getting Silver Edition too but just want to wait out to see if it's plagued with any screen lifting or generic issues as getting it fixed would be almost impossible.

    Not likely by much.
First of all, USD and AUD aren't the same dollar.
Second, import taxes. Guess what? If you have to pay them, so does the retailer you're buying from
Third, taxes and other miscellaneous things that are included
    Fourth, the retailer.

Shopbb sells at MSRP, but the Australian retailer can sell at any price he wants

The galaxy s6 and iphone 6 both sell at the same price (just about)
So it seems to be a fair price.

Didn't know all that. When I went to buy my wife's iphone at the store, there was a huge line of people buying iPhones with gift cards. When I asked someone why a lot of people are buying with gift cards, they said it's cheaper to buy them here and ship them to China. It's the reason I brought it up.

Black is for $425 and Silver is for $550 here in Lebanon. Oh forgot the Red version which is $490. To compare, an iPhone 6 16GB here is $625 while a Samsung GS6 is $440.
