I'll add my Passport (SQW100-1/10.3.2.2339) to the ones that have this problem. I bought mine unlocked on Amazon in November and have been on all the official BlackBerry 10 versions pushed by BlackBerry and Telus.

I live in Vancouver. I'm surrounded by strong LTE signals at home and work so never noticed any major issues until visiting Vancouver Island in the spring and again a couple of weeks ago. My connections were very inconsistent. In the spring, I chalked it up to a poor signal where I was staying, but I will now say it's definitely the Passport since I struggled to get signals on golf courses that I've played many times before using my Z10 or Z30. The Z10 and Z30 had great reception! I couldn't pop the Sim into my Z30 for comparison this time as I don't have an adapter. But from experience, there is definitely a difference with the Passport. Yes, I did try changing the network selection to 3G etc, to no avail.

I'm back in Vancouver, so I don't have this issue often - except in underground parking lots. Come to think of it, I used to get a signal with my Z10 in those spots!

Hi all. I think many have similar issu. I m on Viettel BIS, the nano sim is fine when I put on Bold 9780, but when i got it back to my passport the problem persists.
The technician told me that many experienced this and this is due to hardware, which is called IC or EC i dont know. I have to waite for another one month for the replacement to be shipped.
Another issue of passport is on-keyboard- trackpad.
I m so much disappointed especially when it was one of the very first device availbe at the release from US.

But I love it, i have to fix it by any means..

I read different here and the official page of Blackeberry ...

It is difficult to discern when 80% to 90% has no signal and 10% 20% of sites have
or 4G signal either GSM or anything else, which means that the antenna works sickly ....

There the problem is clear to software or hardware ...

Question, has someone tried to do firmware or flash update ..

I speak for BIOS - firmaware alone ..

Hey Midiland! I've been having the same problem since the end of November 2016. I bought my factory unlocked Passport in May 2015 and it worked flawlessly until then. I've tried everything from playing around with the Mobile Network settings to doing a full factory reset and nothing has worked. I came across a post that said if you pushed down on the back of the phone just beneath the SIM tray, your signal will return. I tried that and noticed that that area is a little lose and made a clinky noise when pressed, but doing so did bring back my signal!! But once I stopped pressing down on the phone, the signal was lost again. I therefore believe this is a hardware issue. It's a shame, I love the phone. But between this, the now outdated camera, the lack of Android apps and Whatsapp's discontinuation of support for BlackBerry after June, I have decided to get a Samsung Galaxy S7

There are three threads on this. Clearly all models of the passport are having a problem with an intermittent signal. Unsure if this is related to 10.3.3 or not.

    Unfortunately, no.
I want to change the firmware only the firmware, nothing else ..
From this we will distinguish if hardware ...

    Thank you

I tried to reinstall the 10.3.2 radio using sachesi. No help. The thing is this has to do with the way the phone connects to cell towers.

Even after developing the problem mine will connect to some towers with a stable strong 3 or 4g signal. It gets into trouble when you start walking or driving around..Areas where you formerly had service it tells you emergency service only (not a red X indicating no service or no signal by the way).

So this is a blackberry issue they need to fix with a software update.

    Hi,

Might not be directly related to this particular issue, but I did notice weaker signal reception on newer sw versions. I did some testing with the "signal" app from bbw, and if these numbers concerning the dbm are reliable then I have much better reception on 2/3/4g as well on wifi with radios 3.2.799 (currently sideloaded) a 8xy (or something - currently on the move, don't remember exactly). Reception was more than 5dbm better with those two radios. Tried every version downwards till the 799.

Battery on wifi is also much, much better. Leaving over night drains only ~3% (3 mail accounts with push). With latest 10.3.3 was approximately 8-9%.

Only drawback nfc won't work. Bluetooth haven't checked yet.

    Regards

I had same problem on my Passport. To solve. 1. Removed back cover. 2 locate the 4 or 5 spring pins at the bottom inside the case. 3. Take a small screw driver and pry them up about 1/8 inch or so. Done. Put back together.

The antena and speaker are located together in the same piece of plastic inside the back cover. Speaker vibrates causing spring contacts to fail. I think BB used the wrong type of metal for the spring contact points. They should not be so bendable. Just springy. Goodluck!

Thank you Tom for this advice! As soon as I get my hands on a screw driver small enough for the little screws holding down the back cover, I'll give it a try!

That is a hardware issue in your case.
Slide a small piece of paper behind the SIM card when putting the SIM card in.

I have had some of the issues described here as well. I have two Passports sitting on my desk at work in front of me. Throughout the day I find that my red passport will lose signal intermittently while my black one doesn't. The signal in my office is week, often going down to one bar. When it does so the black will hold that one bar signal while the red won't.
