No offense intended but it is sad that one app can decide the fate or decisions of so many. I don't know what the answer to this tech problem is but it is a bad scenario where a powerful developer like Facebook/Whatsapp can play this game with the market. By market I mean not allowing other Dev's to create alternative app on their behalf and they wouldn't even have to maintain it. This is not how you creat growth in an economy where developers disallow services to certain OS's on Zero basis. This will only discourage competition and innovative development leaving a monopoly of two and the consumer with less choices.

Sad is all I Have to say at the moment.

I am enjoying limiting the tracking on my activity with my BlackBerry Passport and that is another factor for my decision to stay with BB10.

Sorry, that's how it works. No WhatsApp means to stop communicating with people: as I said, in the USA maybe it's different, but here WhatsApp is the main communication tool. That's what happens when a big like Facebook buys a company like WhatsApp... I could say "I won't sell my soul to you" but we simply cannot. My Z10 broke two days ago, and I'm missing a ton of messages (no one ever accepted trying BBM, even my girlfriend refused because of the not-so-smart PIN adding system). So, yes. If Mac stopped supporting mails, I would use a Windows PC. If WhatsApp stops supporting OS 10, I cannot stick with it anymore.

I'm stuck with this WhatsApp problem, which made me wait to buy the PP SE. I'm from Italy and I'd love to use BBM instead of WhatsApp but such a thing is simply not possible here, where everyone uses WhatsApp for any kind of activity (work, college, friends, everything is around WhatsApp and WhatsApp Group). I'm on facebook only for some institutional duties which I explain trough email notifications and browser when needed, in fact I've never been using a facebook app nor I felt the need. The only application which I can't miss is WhatsApp, it's just a key feature to me. I can replace email client, calendar, not WhatsApp.

Therefore this is a problem: I read on CB that the android app is not working well as said on this thread also, and basically that is not usable. I think I won't buy a phone which might be useless to me in three months and I may wait for march to see how the situation is with WhatsApp, if maybe any independet devoloper did resolve that or if WhatsApp would still be working even without being fixed anymore. This is so bad, but I can't see any other way. Well, life would go on even without a smartphone, I can deal without my blackberry, even if this means that I'll try to use my phone as less as possible from now on.

Paguito, sono italiano anche io. Per farla semplice, WhatsApp smetter� di funzionare, come spiegato dagli stessi sviluppatori sul blog e su Twitter qualche mese fa, verso il 2-3 di gennaio. Non possono esistere app di terze parti: WhatsApp lo vieta, e ha gi� bloccato sul nascere un tentativo (WhatsUp), cos� come fece a suo tempo con Symbian. E, ti assicuro, l'apk � terribile, e scarica la batteria in maniera formidabile: � solo un modo per chi ha gi� un BlackBerry 10 di continuare a comunicare un minimo in attesa di comprare un nuovo telefono.
Il resto l'ho gi� scritto in inglese. Il Passport gi� � vecchio, e costa ancora un sacco: meglio attendere il Mercury (come me) o andare sul PRIV, piuttosto che comprare un prodotto di cui ti lamenterai da gennaio (emulare le app Android non � immediato, e molte di esse non funzionano; persino app native come il browser iniziano a mostrare i segni dell'et�). Ti consiglio vivamente di non gettare soldi. Qui purtroppo � pieno di fanatici, ma la verit� � che non ci saranno pi� aggiornamenti software (OS 10.3.3 sarebbe dovuto uscire un mese fa, e gli unici aggiornamenti pianificati servono per continuare ad osservare gli standard di sicurezza richiesti dagli enti a cui BlackBerry continuer� a fornire dispositivi OS 10 fino al 2017-2018), probabilmente anche quelli con Android non andranno oltre Android 8, ma perlomeno � un sistema operativo che ti durer� ad libitum. � un sistema morto, da quasi due anni. Ti assicuro che con un po' di personalizzazioni, Android somiglia molto pi� al vecchio OS 7 di OS 10!
Io adoravo OS 10, te lo dico da "fan": ma prima che si rompesse, avevo gi� cominciato ad odiare lo Z10. Su siti e forum pi� seri, come la stessa BlackBerry Italia, persino gli admin sconsigliano fortemente l'acquisto di un BB 10, com'� giusto che sia...

I recommend you to use Blackberry Passport with BB10 or maybe Blackberry Classic. I'm actually using Passport SE I'd buy one month ago, is by far the best device I'd ever had. Coming back to BB10/Passport is a great choice!

I totally agree with your point of view and it's awful that nowadays we are forced in our choices in such an unfair way. Indeed, sadly we are. As well explained by Power Mac, there is no way I can convince 200 of my contacts to stop using WhatsApp and start using BBM or telegram or any other service, because people addict to routine and won't let you break theirs: this is the darkest side of the moon probably.

Ovviamente s�, sono dispositivi ancor pi� vecchi (i primi usciriono nel 2011, come il mio vecchio Curve 9360), con la differenza che chi li sta ancora usando nemmeno potr� arrangiarsi con un apk (per fare una prova, basta spostare avanti la data...). Esattamente, anche io sono affezionato a BlackBerry e amo la tastiera fisica. Ergo, ti consiglio di valutare Priv e dtek 50, o, come dicevo sopra, attendere fino ad ottobre e vedere come sar� il BlackBerry Mercury, che personalmente acquister�. Se vuoi farti un'idea del dispositivo, trovi in rete dei render fatti da chi l'ha visto qualche mese fa da vicino.
Questo � quanto. I BlackBerry ci sono ancora, e con Android sono ancora pi� godibili da un certo punto di vista: usiamoli finch� esistono.
