Hello. I live in Australia about 4-5 months a year, the US the rest of the time. In Australia, I need a phone with great voice/call quality, email capability, document review and texting. I have an iPhone 6s that can connect to WiFi for more personal use and apps, and it will stay on the US phone network. I used to have a BB years ago, loved the quality and went to Apple because it worked pretty seamlessly with my tablet and computer. I don't want to buy another iPhone and honestly, for what I need (business communications), I'd like a phone with better call quality than Apple. And also, I really can't stand Android. That said, I keep seeing that BB OS is dead. Should I look elsewhere, or would a Passport be a good answer for me?

If you want to get a solid phone than the Passport is it, it still runs most anything thrown at it with very little issues. Colbalts playstore still performs perfectly and will load most all of the droid apps, they just are slower to load.

The Q10 is great in a lot of ways. It is possible to use it one-handed to a limited degree, which you can forget with the passport, unless you're 6'10'' or something. If you value screen real-estate though, the Passport wins hands-down, provided your use case allows for two-handed operation. That screen is absolutely incredible, for reviewing webpages, emails and other documents.

I'm 5'10 and type one handed on my passport all the time. Just typed this out. The capacitive keyboard is your friend.

Top notch high end device with sophisticated technology is passport! Since your needs perfectly define the features that blackberry passport offers I think this is an excellent device which would keep you happy for all your needs and not just that! I'm sure once you start using your passport you will not like other phones with different OS simply because the feel of using passport is sooo rewarding!! Go for it!!

For what you plan on using it for it will work great.

BB10 is dead only in the sense that it is not getting any more updates, thus, the BB10 browser will sometimes crash or not display webpages correctly (in a few cases). If your needs stay as mentioned it will be a killer phone.

Passport is a powerful phone. 3gb ram in that OS is hudge difference from 3gb ram on android. You can run most of the android apps. If you don't find a similar. This not a nokia 8800, this a bb10 phone, the best ever made. don't be afraid. Issues every brand has, and i can assure that they are 20% of what you get in android and 60% in ios. Caviat : The browser needs an update. If you use the browser it will have problems.

Passport is superb for calls, email, typing long messages, in short, it is one of the greatest BlackBerry phones ever made for communications. If that is your priority, get it.

If you use social media, play games, take a lot of selfies, I'd recommend an android phone instead.

Keep in mind the passport is a large phone. For a smaller bb10 experience, q10 is good. I have both phones and predominantly use my passport.

Great advice and good conversation. Thanks, everyone. I will look at the q10, but what I like about the passport is its size for email review and clarity. I saw one available for under $200US and I think I'll go ahead and buy it.

For documents, and just general use other than specialised apps which you can use the iPhone for, the Passport will be faster and easier to use than a Q10.

Yeah, for texting, calling and email it's a solid device.

Just don't expect much more than that. It's pretty much abandoned at this point.

If you can get one cheap, it's a nice device.

Coming from a Iphone 5S, I am asking if I will be able to run apps like Waze, Clevertaxi, 9gag, WhatsApp on the Passport.I don't care about facebook.I heard that for YouTube there is a pretty good app for it.
Also, I am interested to know how Skype runs on the BB PP.
And also I am very interesting to know how the browsing feels like these days on the Passport.
Here in my country it costs around 250 euros for a new one, black edition and I would buy it if I would have the confort of those apps.

For the things that OP wants to do with the phone, I think Q10 or Classic should be better. It's smaller, more pocketable, does calls, texts, and emails.

My mother and my wife both have iPhones. I have a passport. I have a Google pixel. I can't see where the passport does any better on the calls.

I do enjoy the passport for emailing. Yeah. But it feels slow compared to my Pixel. The interface that is.

My wife has iPhone 6s+. It drops calls left and right.

I have old, outdated passport. Never ever dropped a call.

So that's my experience.

The iPhone 7 has only one microphone.

My Passport has way better call quality than my iPhone 7, without a doubt. There is no comparison.

My Classic has worse quality, but better microphone quality for those on the other end of my calls.
