So I had dead pixels in the middle on my screen and sent it back to BlackBerry via RMA. I had to use my z10 for a few days (oh my god I can't believe I used that toy for so long). Anyways I thought I would get the screen replaced and the same phone back. Got a package today and got a new phone!! Now I'm not sure if it is brand new or refurbished, but I'm really happy to be back on my passport!

I had an issue with sim card reader in my passport.

contacted BlackBerry warranty service and they sent me a refurbished passport and then I sent my old passprt back.

This was great, never without a passport.

A really good service. I just hope they deem the problem warranty-able, otherwise I will have to pay 650 for this refurb

But, this refurb seems new, it had 10.3.2 on it and the keypad felt stiff like a new phone.

Didn't they put a hold on a credit card for about $600 US?

That is what they do, usually. What a headache.

Not necessarily. A coworker received a red Passport from ShopBlackBerry.com, which was obviously damaged in transport. She sent a pic of the damaged box and device. She received a replacement device and a return label in less than 2 days. No credit card hold required.

(PS. Now I'm really Jonesing for a red Passport.)

Yep, they put a hold on my cc

I'm OK with that, I prefer to have the replacement device without sending in my defective one yet

That way I can be sure it all backs up properly and make sure nothing is missing.

I do the same with harddrives

I don't have a problem with the credit card hold

UPDATE: it was my old phone but they went ahead and fixed some cosmetic damage caused by my puppy when it chewed on the corner. Still I sent it in for a faulty screen and got my bottom bezel and enter key replaced.

I have had a 9900 with a bad screen fixed by Rogers under warranty and it came back looking new. I think they replace the keyboard by default and the chin bar has to come off to get the phone apart. The chin bar is held on with double sided tape and is probably replaced with a new one.
