But now his progress is 98% at the end of the way he should not give up!

Why allow the device to grind away when an autoloader can resolve the issue in minutes. That can't be good for the phone.

Just wanted to update that its almost close to 36 hours and still stuck at 98%... This forum will help prepare other bb users if they are planning to sell their devices to make sure that you give yourself minimum 48 hours for security wipe from device if you are not tech savy or don't know how to use auto loader or worried about bricking your phone.

You don't need to use an autoloader actually. You can just fire up Link and reload the OS from there.

Sometimes it could take days and days to go from 98 to 100% when this happens.

Link you click on preferences and the option is in there. Not sure it will work as it just restarted my phone. But then the wipe finished in no time.

You can also just hold the power button until it restarts and the wipe will start again but hopefully finish in no time.

Not positive but mine was stuck too Z30, and when it restarted and the wipe started over it was done in 10 minutes or so.

How many hours were you into your security wipe prior to the restart and when you did restart what % of wipe was completed ?

It was 4 hours at 98%. I don't have time or another phone to wait days so I said F it and tried link. I think a power restart would have done the same thing.

Why do you continue to torture yourself when others (and myself) keep telling you that an autoloader will do the job in minutes? Seriously. Conite even gave you a link.

He said he fears to brick the expensive Red Passport and asked for a step by step instruction...
You know, even I am not familiar with this... the only time I did sth else than OTA OS Update was to load an OS version with Sachesi to repare my radio file... it is not sth I do frequently and was enormously scared!!
I can feel with the OP and hope he's done wiping now!

Updating the status of my situation

I followed the advice of a fellow blackberrist and resetted the device yesterday night at 10:17 pm right now its 10:52 am and its stuck at 97% so the resetting did not work. so now i can see the frustration is started to kick in which is not good. I am gonna have to go to my carrier and buy an outright phone for a few days because someone said it takes little over 7 days for security wipe.

It's got me buggered how you all actually wait 3 4 days for it to security wipe.... If mine isn't done in an hour or so I'm running Autoloader straight away and I'm back on in less than hour or two.
