EDIT: my OG was defective, as evidenced by a brand new OG that is more in line with the SE.

This is a restart of the 'SE Lens Physically Improved' thread I started last night. Hopefully you guys will be able to better see what I'm talking about. I don't know if this is an actual lens improvement on BlackBerry's part or a defective lens/sensor coupling in my OG Passport.

Both phones are brand new, with clean glass.

This post may not be very useful, but it will hopefully put to rest the mess that was my last thread about the difference between the cameras. I personally think it's just a defective lens, and I was alarmed last night so I posted a quick crop difference to see if anyone could confirm or deny a lens adjustment in the SE. It wasn't a good thread. Hopefully this one is more complete.

And here are the other crops. Perhaps the OG is performing slightly better than the SE in the top right.

    Both are running 10.3.2.2226
And same camera settings according to EXIF data.

Are u using some sort of stand or tripod? Maybe one is slightly twisted left or right so the focus is a little better bottom left vs top right for the other based on the angle of exposure.

NB: layman here I know nothing of photography. But to my eye both images r almost identical except for the bottom left cropped image vs top right.

That's not the issue, trust me. I've tested this in multiple environments over the past few days, and the results are always exactly the same. I'm convinced I have a bad OG copy (what's new).

Take a look at the bottom center as well. The OG is just as poor there. This could very well be due to the lens not being on the same plane as the sensor.

I will say that I still think the SE has nicer rendering overall, mostly due to correctly guessing color temperature better than the OG, though I don't know how when I'm using the same software version. If I could extract the bb10 software from my SE and put it on my OG, then maybe I could better tell what's going on.

Maybe the SE has a better placement or something to capture the corners or your OG pp is bad.. weird though.
