Ok so back pocket and car seat. The video BlackBerry was pushing a few weeks back with the Passport being tossed across baseball diamonds and 20 foot drops onto pavement and coming up unscathed... dude must have buns of steel...
...or the video with all the cutaway scenes was/is HIGHLY suspect.
I suspect the latter

Free drops are very different from fixed/pinned bending. But I agree... bun of (something hard than) steel.
All phones will bend under certain circumstances. People here took great joy on Bendgate but due to the Passports large dimensions it would be susceptible too even given stronger materials due to principles of leverage.
I baby Passport numero duo, hecho in Mexico has never been a reassuring quality moniker to me
Also keep a heavy duty rubber band from a broccoli stock for when - not if - the screen lifts again.
Crap double sided tape is exactly that and doomed to fail.

First, wow, that's a serious bend. I actually expected a diagonal bend since that's definitely Passports weak "line", but vertically like than and so close to the keyboard too, amazing! That really seems to have been a serious pinch between your back pocket and the seat.
Second, I don't think you can bend that back without structurally affecting the phone even further. The stainless steel frame is so bent it would have definitely developed micro fractures. To top it off, your screen is separated now as well.
I'm sorry for your loss, but I don't think that Passport is coming back to good health any time soon.
@passporter - that was one funny post, ROFLMAO!

PBloom, same thing happened to me but my passport bent the other way. The keys were sunk in on the bottom right and the screen lifted on the top right, mildly twisted. I sent mine back before the 30 day return phase. Hopefully you can get it replaced if within the 30 day period.
GL!
From the days of yore, when 'Black'Berrys were Blue.
why would you put your phone in your back pocket? why would you put anything there? WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU SIT ON IT? ISNT IT SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE...? what the hell is wrong with you people lol.
So they do bend as well...
Perhaps he forgot it was in his back pocket and accidentally sat on it. Happened to me several times.
Seriously, switch to decaf. ;)

That hurts your phone...and your pride.
I forgot it was there.
I bought it from Amazon. But I don't see how I can return it when it isn't a manufacturing fault. Although I haven't even had it a week.
I was thinking to just use it for a while. The prices will drop and then get another and possibly I can claim on insurance.
I will try and call BlackBerry Australia.
I also wrote to John Chen with the pictures.
I assume his email is jchen at rim. Com

That really sucks man, good luck. Parts would be good, they are on sale now so, maybe you can recoup some of your losses

This is a very surprising story. I sit on my Passport almost every day. I have also had my passport in my back pocket while riding my horse on several occasions, and it is still perfect. I wonder if it was a defective frame, or everything was just aligned the wrong way. In my Family, we have 4 Passports, they have been dropped, sat on and abused, and still look pristine.
So sorry about ur phone..never knew it could bent!

passport in back pocket while riding a horse lol. that just cant be comfortable... also, 4 passports, damn, nice.
Sad pics. Thanks for posting. In reality all phones will take a **** when you sit on them. Hope you can get some loot or something for it.
..that twisting looks Horrible.

Yikes! There were couple of times I forgot that my passport was in the back pocket too. Almost sat down fully but then I felt a hard slab against my bum. Sorry for your phone. But it looks pretty bad. This isn't under warranty, so my guess is get a new one. Besides, there's a sale going on now.

dont let apple fan boys get wind of this
Sorry to hear OP but....
I've never, ever, ever, ever-ever, understood the concept of putting a phone in the back pocket. Always front pockets....
I would like to see a picture also. And include a picture of the bent Passport as well.
Go look at post #19 on the first page....
Yeah, if I spent $800 on a device I would not be sitting on it but anyway, sorry to hear. Hope you can get another one for cheap.
In fairness to kids these days, their back pockets are on the backs of their knees. So I think by " sat on my Passport today" really means " I pinched my passport between my knees and bent it"

Or.. someone raided their sisters pants drawer.
