So I went to beach, and yes, I took my phone to the beach so that I could listen to some music.

Obviously I could not help some bits of sand falling on the phone even though it was wrapped in the towel.

Came home, few sand on the screen and I immediately cleaned as much as possible but some went into the keyboard - under the space button.

I lost the clicky tactic feedback on the spacebar. Tried everything I know and I am scared to open the phone. Too precious to be messed up with.

Now living with it. I need to push it a little hard and I miss the tactic feedback from the spacebar.

Lesson: never take your passport to the beach.

Try a can of compressed air, see if you can blow out some sand.

Or a vacuum cleaner... instead of blowing the dirts away, you suck them...

Did that. Didn't help. Also tried to push some sand using a paper and sliding under the key. No help

The keyboard is well built so it's hard to move them around.

Sometimes if you just repeatedly tap the spacebar as if you're transmitting Morse code, it'll eventually pop some grains of sand loose... either that or work them in more!

Hey same thing happened to me. My Passport fell out of the bag it was in. My M key lost its clickyness and it kind of double typed as well. Now, about 3 months later the clickyness is back, although not like the others keys. But it's not as bad as it was. I didn't really do anything, just typed like I normally would. Just keep using the phone like you normally would and in time your space bar will behave normally. I think even faster, judging from how often we use thats key. Leave it overnight in a bag of rice that's what I'll do. Or try the youtube videos of how to disassemble the PP so you can make sure that the keyboard is all clean. I'm OC that way.

Iam not game for opening up my device. It's been only 3 months since I have Recieved it. Plan to use it like this now and hopefully one day the sand will get crushed out

Yup. After seeing the dismantling video, you may wreck it more than fix it. And you can't clean the keyboard assy from the bottom part as it is sealed. It needs to be replaced wholly.

The vacuum should do the trick unless otherwise, those dirts got stuck with sticky surface inside your device that can withstand a 1,400w power suction...

    WWOOOHHOOOOOOOOOOOO I AM SO HAPPPPPPPPY

    THANKS JOSHUA.

Sorry for the capital letter. I am too excited and feels so better about life.

    Wwweeehhhhaaaaa

Still lesson to be learned - don't just take the blackberry passport to beach.
Sand in keyboard - my own stupidity-img_20151007_212854.jpg

By the way I used a 2400W vaccum instead of the 1400W suggested by Joshua. Lol so all credit for me. Just kidding. Tried the portable usb powered vaccum at work earlier and that didn't help.

lol! Just trying to be conservative at 1,400W... don't want you to start another thread asking where to buy missing letters from your keyboard...

    Glad that worked...
