Looks like BBM was "stuck". As you can see from screenshot, BBM was using 28% of your battery which is way above normal. I would go into Blackberry World, update BBM (there is an update as of yesterday) and reboot your phone. See how it is after the restart.

Check how many apps have permission to 'Connect to BBM'. Try denying some /all. Then restart phone.

With that high amount of usage in BBM, it looks like you've allowed the bbm permissions to be set with whatever apps you've allowed. Go into your apps and review their profiles.

Try the update to bbm and a hard reset. Then, if you still have issues,a wipe and a re install of everything is probably not a bad thing to try next. I would also look at what apps you have installed that connect to bbm as another poster has said. The battery should last longer, and since you know what's draining it, and there is a new version of that app available, so my money is on that. If not, well, you have a couple of options to try.

As someone already asked when did you get your phone? For me the phone took a few days to settle in with the battery. The first few days I was not getting the life of the battery like I get now. Look at your settings and see how often you have things syncing. I hope you will find that the battery is not rubbish but an excellent improvement for BB

Well a hard restart will solve things like this, but the point is, it shouldn't be happening. It basically means suddenly your phone will just start losing battery for no reason. That can never be cool. No matter how much people here defend it saying it just needs a hard reset and all. THIS shouldn't be happening.

Clearly, you are having some sort of problem. Almost certainly with BBM draining your battery. Naturally, this shouldn't be happening but nothing is infallible.

The battery on these devices is in fact not rubbish.

There's this whole website called "CrackBerry", that's full of people with Passports, that could help you out, if you asked. It certainly would have saved us from another caustically titled, confused newbie thread.

Hard reset: Hold both volume up and volume down buttons until the Passport goes black and hold until the BlackBerry logo appears.

For seeing what's using the battery: Settings->Quick Settings and turn on Device Monitor, now use Quick Settings->Device Monitor to quickly access what's draining your system... though this won't show you battery drains cause by poor reception, which causes the phone to boost antenna strength and drain the battery quicker.
