Admittedly I am not a fan of cases and screen guards but I heard good things about these new fangled shatter-proof glass screens. Si went ahead and ordered a Nillkin H screen protector with 9H Tempered rating.
With this glass protector I was hoping to give a new shiny look to the device when add-on glass starts to look dull and retain spanking new original till the device comes to logical end of life.
I have to give; this thing does feel like real glass and am sure it would have done wonderful job assigned to it only if it fitted well enough.
The area it is suppose to cover was spot on and stick to the glass like glove it did. BUT it has issues on all 4 corners.
Both left and right edges though seem to be conforming to the measurements but they just can't stick to the ever so slight slope the original glass seem to have. It appears that Passport glass is 'truly' flat not within the black screen area but a good 1.5 mm from the black edge and this add-on simply won't taper down to hug the curvature to edges. It just stand out as oddity and mock the design.

In spite of 0.33 its not thinnest thing out there and in-spite of carefully place down the edge of first steel like fret, it obstruct the thumb gesture and by no stretch of imagination I can say that it's not an impediment.
Likewise the top area has issues (or so it seems to me because I can verify the same only after the remove the protector) given the thickness, earpiece seems distant and edges can be felt in a jagged way. ambient light sensor does not seem to be as perky as it was earlier and upon close inspection I realised that since it is not covered by the screen protector and placed right next to it creates a recess like era around sensor that picks up body oils and air bourn gunk covers it in a fine sticky film. I am not really sure if it fouls up the sensor. even otherwise what should have been a simple swipe job to clean glass becomes a tedious chore to specifically clear the recess around sensor.
Not a specialist about 9H rated toughness of glass but for me it's been $16 down the drain and try as I might I cannot keep this thing on, it really feels odd and clunky too.
I hope it will help people out here still mulling over glass protector to stand warned what they are up for.

    Thanks.

Do most people recommend these screens?

I have never had one. What do they really protect?

Thank you hereticHermit! Appreciate it a lot.

I haven't really decided on what screen protector to get, may not necessarily be a glass protector. I just want something to protect my screen from scratches and if it does get a scratch, I can just replace the film and it looks new again.

I think Ghost Armor has a good review so far with satisfied customers. Though it's just a protective film and not glass.

Have had a very similar experience and ended up removing the thing. I now have put on a product called Liquid Glass which I have been very happy with.
With the toughened glass protector, aside from the fit along the left and right edges, the top right corner would not stay in contact with the screen. The other thing I didn't like was when I swiped upwards from the keypad, I could feel my thumb get caught on the bottom edge of the protector.

It wasn't difficult to put on,it just doesn't sit on the screen properly. Unless someone comes up with a design that has a slight curve down along the left and right edges, I can't see it being a decent option for the pp.

Sorry I dont have pics as it will require a high res close-up and I dont have capable hardware. As for the choice of glass v/s screen I went in for this particular product because it does feel like real glass and in terms of choice of material there is no comparison with this and other cling film screens. But it seems that at this price point it is not possible to produce a design which may actually compliment the original.
I dont think any quality of cling film can even come close to this protector. I think Ill just bite the bullet here and remove this ill fitting screen.
Bluejay, even the top edge feel and fit was iffy and wonky. They have ensured they killed all 4 edges !

No offence, but glass screen protectors won't fit on rounded edges screens. Only a plastic screen protector can

I have a Stilgut tempered glass protector in the mail from Germany. I'll post a review on it when it arrives. I finally gave up on Phantom Glass.
