So, I recently sold my Passport on eBay for around �240 - I'd only owned it about 3 weeks and it was perfect I took a huge loss of �140 which was painful but, hey!

I switched back to my iPhone 6 Plus and bloody hell I regret it. It's horrid, I misspell words and autocorrect doesn't pick it up like my PP, miss the physical keyboard and generally preferred my BlackBerry plus the one handed operation was a dream. Why did I switch back? Simply apps - I'm a marketing manager who deals with full marketing relations throughout the company I work in and a lot of my apps just don't work as APKs or are slow and sadly apps like Snapchat are core in our marketing plans and therefore I need Droid/iPhone.

I love my BlackBerry and after the Android dust settles I will potentially purchase a Silver Edition but while I am unsure what direction BlackBerry is going and don't want to drop �400 on a phone that in two months may be unsupported I will sadly stick with my iPhone!:-(

Don't do it folks, don't buy an iPhone. BB Passport all the way.

That would be a kicker & one that I thought about deeply. The PP is spec'd to have Android Flagship Potential I just don't know if BlackBerry will move forward with a PassPort Droid! We shall see.

To be honest, apps have always been the Blackberrys achillies heal. Bit better now with OS10, but still so far behind the rest. An android passport would be amazing.

I agree - I want to love BlackBerry, I don't want to love my iPhone. The only thing keeping me away from BB full time is the lack of apps (natively). I await with bated breath an Android Passport and if it does happen BlackBerry can have as much money as they want off me!

As apps are very much a personal choice,.,, whether required or imagined... there really is only an app gap when you cannot get something you think you need.... I have a 2 BB an Apple and 2 Android device... and sure there are hundreds of thousands of choices... but in the end I find myself using maybe 10 to 12 on each platform... I do agree.,, the "sort of works" Android experience on BB10 is a pain... My wife's LG 3G actually has less apps than my z30... couple of social media apps and games... otherwise she uses the built in Android email, contact and text managers... Unless you are constrained by work as I am ( have Iphone 6 for customised work app ) I never use the Iphone except for that... think it is a marvelous device for those who want to just use their phone and be guided by Apple on how to do so.... that being said... hundred of thousands apps is a great marketing tool but really... in your day to day life how many do you actually download and use on a regular basis???? and how many are really missing????

Actually reading your post had triggered something in my mind which I'd never considered which is iPad 3G for the Apps + BlackBerry PP for productivity and used as a phone!

Kicking myself for selling now but I've just found a new job which I start in a few weeks and like mentioned above I will be locked down to a specialist set of apps on iOS but hey!

When I reflect and think 'what am I missing?' SC is he only one personally that comes to mind other than that nothing. That's why I'm considering iPad it can run my work + personal apps and let the Bb do what BB's do best. Get work done.

You say "BB Passport all the way", yet you were not willing to go "all the way" with it. Instead you sold your "all the way" device and went back to iPhone and now are lamenting this decision.

I enjoy my apps on weekends when I use my Nexus, but for the work week, I need my SE Passport.

But I understand some people need apps for work. Thankfully I don't work in anything that requires that.

I understand what you're saying but even if it is only one or two apps that are missing, that is enough for most consumers to choose another platform over BlackBerry. And why shouldn't they? Consumers with a choice will almost always buy the product that gives them what they want.

You're right on waiting on the dust to settle on the Android issues and way forward. The Passport is an incredible device from BB but apps coupled with trends ; (the mass train) can make a similarly superb brand or product find itself in the wild. Unfortunately BB at the moment is at this point. Too bad work related apps had you cornered. I hope the " hyperversion" or something positive happens along the way that solves your problem and that of many others on this forum.

This seems to be a common fallacy. The issue isn't "how many apps does an individual need?" Everyone has *different* needs. My phone has a lot of fitness and travel apps. Someone else might be big on social media/podcasts/blogs/etc. Someone else might work for their company remotely or in the field and need apps that keep them connected to the home office and the ability to do their job while they're not sitting in front of their computer. Someone else might be a sports fanatic and want to keep on top of the teams that they like and the sports that they play themselves. Etc, etc, etc. The solution for a successful platform is to have an app catalog that encompasses ALL of these peoples' needs. The goal for phone manufacturers is to have the social media personality, the remote worker, the sports fanatic, and me all using their device.

Unlikely. Android version of Passport will sell separately. I don't think you'd be able to load Android on existing BB 10 devices, including the Passport line.

I agree... but then I think this is going to alienate a lot of folks.

Some that feel betrayed that BlackBerry has left their beloved BB10 behind by ending development and new devices. And then those that feel betrayed that BlackBerry left their beloved Passport behind by not allowing it to get the Android OS.

The only thing that makes no sense is the Passport Silver.... unless it was just a way to move some leftover chipsets.

But BB10 development would significantly slow down and it won't receive even half as many updates as Android would. Perhaps when they are back to making-money, they'd re-hire number of talented developers and resurrect BB10 development.

Well if the goal is to have one's needs for apps catered the best, should everyone just get iOS devices then--especially if they want immediate availability of apps and a smooth experience? Why bother with Android, where app releases lag compared to iOS and more apps are crap due to fragmentation and other issues?

I don't think BB10 leaving the market will hurt the US DoD... as I think they specifically planned to not rely on any one vendor. Thanks to the outage in 20011 and BlackBerry's subsequent and enduring finical problems. So BB10 isn't necessary for the US DoD to operate - don't know of it being used very much. Yeah it will be an inconvenience for the State Department and White House...

Have no idea about what NATO's "needs" are, but if they "need" BB10... they had better pull out their pocket book because John Chen doesn't seem to be interested in doing it. But BB10 will work for years to come, especially if you don't need 3rd Party Apps which most likely NATO doesn't.

BB10 has failed... we have learned that Apps are the Driving force behind a platform.... so why would they bringing BB10 back to life? Why would you expect a different result from what has taken place over the last five years? BB10 is done.

And the Runtime is really the big question right now... what happens to BB10 Devices going forward. Will BlackBerry have to change BB10 and remove the runtime from any devices sold after the Slider? Or will BlackBerry just stop selling Passport, Classics and Leaps? That could become an issue for a lot of organization that are using BES and BB10 devices. Find it hard to believe that suddenly there would be no replacements available, but then that might be the cost of BlackBerry getting certified.
