We will find out sooner or later. I just bought a black Passport and wrote customers service that I changed my mind and I would like them to switch my order for the red one once it becomes available for order. We'll see if it works.

If you want to save money, get the black one. If you want to be different with a novelty device, pay up. It's amazing the BlackBerry is finally offering these types of prices for very desirable devices. A few months ago everyone was predicting the failure of the Passport because we thought it was probably going to be $700 like the Z10 at launch.

It's ok for BlackBerry to squeeze as much of a novelty premium as they can from the flashy red Passport as long as they have the black one priced lower as a "fall back" option. It will make the black one seem like an even better deal for those "responsible" buyers. (i.e. "Well,.. I could have gotten the red one, but I went for the black one and 'saved' 200 bucks instead.")

The reason for my question is because if the product is going to be released on black Friday and is limited, then Blackberry may offer a discount for the release day only and then the price goes back to the $699 price. At this point I don't think Blackberry is going to have discount to make the red passport at the same cost as the black passport, but they may have it at the $599 price point. I just bought a Z30 at the price point of $299 about a week ago and not at the new discounted price of $225. I will not be returning my Z30 or asking for a credit back, but I want to ensure that If I decide to get a Red Passport, then I get it at the cheapest possible price that Blackberry offers it at. I see nothing wrong with trying to get a device at the cheapest possible price that Blackberry offers it at.

Sure. In that case I should have never bought a Z10 at $699 almost two years ago... or the Passport for $599, or... they will always be offered cheaper eventually. Whether the time period is worth the $ is up to each.

All red looks nice if a device is turned off, but it you're using it, all black around the screen makes for better viewing. Illuminated screens look better with black around them.
