Because you could buy something else with the difference. $200 is quite a lot for a colour.

I'm curious does anyone know if the frets between the keys are anodized black metal or just painted metal or plastic ? With finger oils, dirt, etc. it's easy to assume that over time the finish would wear off....that'd look awful I think.

I'd be more concerned with being able to find spare parts. There aren't any even for the black version. The red is even more limited in availability.
