I just noticed this for the first time, and searches on here have turned up fruitless. I have a Passport and like that 8 active frames can be open at once on the main screen...but is it limited to only 8 applications total?? For the hell of it I tried opening more, only to find that rather than another active frame screen below (like my Z10 would do) it's just the one screen and apps get closed instead (keeping the number at 8). I can't find any setting to change the limit of 8...is it possible??? For the record, I rarely have more than 4 apps open at once, it's just something I'm wondering.

    I know, it sucks.

In 2015, with all the processing power and technology, it can only do 8. I find this is counterproductive, not productive.

What is more, if you want your weather app to show updates, as there are no widgets, or receive notifications on Skype, they also need to run. So in reality it is more 5-6 practical slots.

Half of my time on my Passport is spent scrolling for apps, and re-open them.

What's the limit on the Z3? I guess less because its underpowered?

You would think the passport having 2 extra cores and 1 extra GB RAM could have a higher limit...

    That's changed with 10.3.1. Z3 can do 8 with 10.3.1 leak now.

I hear you but I learnt to use keyboard shortcuts for my apps which significantly speeds things up. Running 10.3.1. though.. after rearranging my home screen with empty icons and using Home Screen Plus for a few "widgets" it's less of an issue. Still not perfect but a decent workaround. Hope it helps ;-:

It can but that's because the os build is not optimized for the z3. When official 10.3.1 hits the z3 will be restricted to 4

With shortcuts even on 10.3.0, you don't need things like twitter or Facebook open. If you receive a message from either of those, you get notified and can respond in the hub without opening the app and if you want to initiate an action, just hit FB and you get facebook options or just T for twitter or TW, I don't know that i've had more than 5 active frames at any one time. I just don't need them.

I'd like there to be at least an option on the Passport with it's extra gig of ram to have 10 or 12 active frames. Oh well.

Not necessarily. 10.3.1 optimized RAM a lot so it's very possible it'll remain with 8
