    Just thought I would share.

I purchased a BB Passport at the end of Dec from ShopBlackberry. I love the phone, other than as a phone it is terrible. as a phone! I was having issues where during calls I would mute, hang up, dial numbers, put on speaker etc.. (this would happen on 4 out of 5 calls). The issue is that the proximity sensor tests ok.. it is an intermittent problem.

I noticed that if I call someone, and put the phone to my face it will turn the screen off, but once they pick on on the other end it turns the screen back on. I called BB and I tried a restart, hard restart, as well as a reset to factory specs all with no luck. Finally after dealing with this for close to 3 weeks, they agreed to send me a replacement phone.

I got another white BB passport on Friday, and this one would not allow me to enter my BB ID (kept giving me codes of 50501?), and when I decided to call BB support the screen never went dark! This one had a constant proximity sensor issue??

Has anyone else had these issues?

I have been a long time BB supporter, and currently have (4) other BB devices. I am going to have serious problems going back to my Q10 after this phone, but I am seriously worried about trying a third passport after all these issues?

Have you covered the sensor with a screen protector? If so remove it and try it am having same problem on different phone it was the screen protector.

If you hold the phone horizontally the screen never turns off. Keep that in mind.

It's a software problem. This happens all the time with my Q10 running 10.3. I've always had problems with the proximity sensor during calls except for a brief period when I was on 10.2.1. It's the most annoying thing ever! None of my legacy devices had this issue.

The phone is vertical, in call position. I have no screen protector.

Never had an issue with any other device other than the passport...

I've read a few threads about this but have not experienced this on my PP. I don't hold my phone in any special way so I don't know how to help you. Sorry.
