From India ,I guess Rs 35,000 will be decent enough price compared to competition. How much will you pay for your Country passport?

A few considerations for those who dream about a 500-600$ Passport:
the Sony X-Peria Z Ultra and its 6.4" screen (344ppi)+ 3000mAh battery can be found around 675$ in USA for the HSPA+ version and North American and European LTE models were on pre-order for $770 and $840 !!! 11 months ago
The Passport will have a bigger battery, a better definition 453 ppi vs 344ppi, 3GB vs 2GB of Ram for the Ultra, and 32GB of storage vs. 16GB for Sony.
Add upon that the Passport has an innovative keyboard that acts like a trackpad and you are way over X-Peria Z Ultra price.
I am pretty sure it will be at the very least around 649-700$ ( and at least 599/649 euro with weird policy change $-Euro) and wouldn't be surprised to see it as a premium device (900$).
Why above 700$?
Apple iphone 5S with 32GB is 749$ off-contract and with the phablet to come they can't make it at the same price.
So Apple's phablet will set the premium standard price for that segment and it will be over 749$, my guess is around 800$ (maybe with the usual trick of chose for the same price between phablet's 16GB of storage vs iphone's 32GB).
I can't see Blackberry going cheaper than Cupertino, even more so after Blackberry stated they want to be perceived as a synonym of work.
I hope i'll be proved wrong, but i fear a pricey strategy from Blackberry... but definitely not a 500-600$ price tag (that would be a real, too good to be true, aggressive marketing and the Passport isn't in the same league as the Z3)

Confidence Business currently has placeholders for the BlackBerry Passport and Classic. They list the Passport at 6,499 SEK, which is about $955 USD. The Classic priced at 5,499 SEK is about $806 USD.

Of course, this is likely the factory unlocked pricing and bit over priced. For example, they list the Porsche P�9982 at 23,995 SEK, which is over $3,500 USD. Madness, compared to ShopBlackBerry.com selling the P�9982 for $1,990 USD.

Does shopBlackBerry include Value Added Tax (aka VAT)? In Norway online stores are obliged to only show the price with VAT included, unless it's a non-consumer / business-only store.

So SEK 6499 would be 20% more than the US retail price (on the assumption that sales tax would be added later on).

So, in other words, to compare it to a US retail price of SEK 6500 * 0.8 = SEK 5200 = $760 would make more sense.

Classic would be $640.

Benedikt Evans and Ben Bejarin had some interesting thoughts on how the bigger of the two iPhone models that are rumoured to come out might be a play by Apple for emerging markets rather than the premium market, and that the smaller one would be the premium device. You can hear their discussion on their free podcast "Cubed". (highly recommend if you're into the tec sector in general.)

that's a good question and i sincerely don't know.
I used to watch a podcast about Apple (french one) and they usually cited Sony's devices as very good ones (the hardware seems to be premium).
I took that example because i remembered it was one of the biggest smartphone (phablet) on the market, and thought the comparison with the Passport could be pertinent in some ways.
I don't know how it is compared to the competitors you cited but i looked for the Xperia Z Ultra reviews and found C-net, and Engadget, it looks like a good phone for those who loves Android OS (i can't stand it...) Sony Xperia Z Ultra review: the best phone you'll probably never buy the price they give is 675$ for HSPA* model (North American and European LTE models were on pre-order for $770 and $840!!! 11 months ago according to Engadget).
I still think the Passport should be a little more expensive and and wouldn't be surprised to see it around 900$ for Europe and LTE version...

Sony is over pricing their products every time. Z Ultra Specifications on sheet is better than Passport. Iphone 5S has more reasonable price than Sony and BlackBerry. Iphone 5S support 64 Bit + Awesome 8 MP Camera + Finger Print Scan + Aluminium uni body + Only 1 Model every year ( 5C is a disaster if I am not mistaken ) and Off Contract Price $700 for 16GB Model. I had held some of their Flagship, and really not impressed. And I also know in my country, Sony gets price cut insanely. I wish BlackBerry really think it through about Passport Price. I think BlackBerry shouldn't do Premium Price like as Android Big Manufacturer do. Cause most people have lost hope for BlackBerry Devices and for their Price Drops. Since BlackBerry is trying to gain crowd heart to their device again , why don't they launch BlackBerry Passport with an earlier Price Cut and don't make any more Price Cut after another BlackBerry Passport successor comes out. I am a BlackBerry die hard Fan, i had Z10, Q10, and Z30 since they first out in my country. I hate to see BlackBerry lost more of their fans because of the insanely price cut. BlackBerry plays at being premium, but then they get hammered by lack of sales and drops pricing.
Apple - no price drops (just rebates in India and EMI schemes)
Sony? They do phones? (kidding! The Xperia waterproof model is awesome but hobbled by the new Android OS which needs more memory actually)
Android is bloated - if Google takes back the code and releases a lean kernel then they might be own the entire mobile OS. Right now, it's mostly crapware and I always use that to convert a few friends to the Z10 (too expensive, so they are looking at buying

With the next gen of BlackBerrys', I think we'll see better phone bodies, more functionality and smoother OS releases now that they have integrated Amazon apps as a side load option.

You know, I just went and looked at the Blackberry website to see if there was any info on the Passport. Do you know under devices they are still listing the Playbook as "Ultra Fast, Ultra Powerful, Ultra Portable". I mean, at some point don't you have to wake up?

That's pretty much Scandinavia. Everything there is much more expensive and people there earn just as much more.
